Labeled as “prowling, brooding and mischevious” by Emma Wilson, London UK music promoter, Beware! The Leopard is pouncing on the public consciousness in Canada. With the driving riffs and atmospheric effects of Alex Leger’s guitar/keys and vocals, underpinned by the fiery energy and wide textural palette of Mark Segger on drums, the Toronto based duo creates an emotional experience for the audience, covering ground from singer-songwriter to indie rock to creative ambient soundscapes.
Alex formed the project in early 2008 as a solo act playing gigs in London, UK, including headlining spots at the River Cafe, the Phoenix, and the Edinburgh Cellars. In addition to being “a fantastic and innovative singer-songwriter,” as praised by Daniel Joe - another London UK music promoter, Alex produces an array of creative textures through his use of live looping. Mark Segger joined the project in the summer of 2009 and brings his experience in jazz and improvisation to the music.
With the release of the debut EP “Cli-Che” in the fall of 2009, and an extensive tour to follow, Beware! The Leopard is looking forward to making 2010 an exciting year of music!
Cool, I've heard the music scene is pretty good out there. I have been thinking about spending some time abroad, so let me know how it goes. Good luck xx
thanks for adding us up - glad you liked what you heard. you would be the gentleman with lots of loops going on if i remember correctly!
Canada is on the list for sure, but unfortunately not for a while at least. for now we have a london show next week followed by some solo shows in california for a little while. then it's back to the studio
