Beyond Analog have decided to call it a day. After they let their vocalist/guitar player go, the rest of the band thought that it wasn't fitting to continue under the name Beyond Analog. The three remaining members, Judd, London, and Jim have started a new project called, Small Leaks Sink Ships and will release a brand new album in early 2007. Please go to their Myspace.com page and add them as a friend. You can check out a studio video blog on their page or at smallleakssinkship.com. SLSS will enter the studio in early September for three weeks. Get ready for the most amazing musical movement of this century!
Thanks to everyone that has been with us these past few years and we hope that you will continue to support our new project, Small Leaks Sink Ships. As a treat, all the songs on this page will be downloadable and you can get our latest EP for under $5 on iTunes! Thanks again and god bless.
Before I say anything else, let me say this:
DANG.
I haven't heard many bands with more originality or technical virtuosity than Beyond Analog. They manage to create a kind of rock that rises above emo but stays vividly emotional. They also have an extraordinarily high level of musicianship and tonal control.
The first two things I noticed when listening to "The Authenticator Code" continue to impress me every time I listen to it. First is the exceptional drumming. London VanRooy hits so many sixteenth notes he'll make your head spin, yet not once do you hear him resort to the double bass for speed. The second thing that grabs my attention is Matthew Romero's buttery vibrato. His voice immediately catches you off guard and holds you in a trance for the rest of the EP. I should also add that the guitar and bass are fantastic. Track two ("Discouraged Days") probably spends the most time showcasing those elements.
It truly is a shame that "The Authenticator Code" is only a five song EP. It certainly leaves you hungry for more.

Mesa, Arizona's BEYOND ANALOG are an indie/emo rock band that's bestowed its EP The Authenticator Code with a heaping pile of originality and technical virtuosity. Although there's traces of COHEED AND CAMBRIA and SPARTA in the band's sound, this five song, 20 minute EP is mostly a creature of independent origin, strung together by links of fierce guitar tension, impressive drumming and taut songwriting. It's rare to hear a band write a series of four-minute long songs that stay free from overstaying their welcome, but BEYOND ANALOG has no problem whatsoever in keeping things interesting, moving forward, and consuming. At the core of this EP's sound is the band's constant shifting of time signatures. Drummer London Vanrooy plays with a distinguished kind of polish that almost deceptively downplays this band's knack for rhythmic adventures. BEYOND ANALOG aren't afraid to work in more ethereal parts either, particularly on the closing epic "Our Last Day Home." A swell of melancholic bass lines, fluid drum vocals and haunting lead vocals carry this EP back to shore and tie it snugly against the dock. A pleasant EP all the way around.
