Beyond Barricades are a spirited and distinctive folk acoustic trio from Melbourne, Australia. With a unique blend of voice (male and female) and instruments (acoustic guitar, flute, whistle, oboe and melodica), they create an irresistible and impassioned musical style entwined around the art of storytelling.
Dean, Gez and Judi are experienced musicians, having been associated and toured extensively with bands such as Trickledown, Tempest, Naked Jake, Runt, Ambulance Stalkers, plain, Family Singalong Turns To Tragedy and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Judi has recorded and performed with international acts, including Belle and Sebastian. Since forming in 2006 Beyond Barricades have performed across Victoria capturing the hearts of many. Highlights include a ‘live-to- air’ on radio 3RRR, their gigs at the Clifton Hill Hotel, the World AIDS Day Concert at Federation Square 2006, The Churchill Island Music and Arts Festival 2007 and the inaugural Numurkah Foodbowl Music Festival 2008. They also support and have played at several community-based events. One of the biggest highlight so far for Beyond Barricades is the release of their debut album ‘New Year’s Day’. The album delivers a wonderful mix of poignant lyrics, rich harmonies and quirky time changes, weaving a vivid tapestry of sound and emotion. ‘New Year’s Day’ tells familiar stories, introduces evocative characters and awakens questions. Album available from MyMusicSite and soon available on CDBaby. Support an Original Unsigned Artist!
