As well as musical master minds like Stevie Wonder, Ottis redding, Marvin gaye, curtis mayfield, James Brown, jimmie hendrix, pfunk, the Beatles and too many more to list.
Wailing out of Riverside, So. California, heavily influenced by the positive lyrical message and the rootical rhythms of reggae music; musically and spiritually inspired singer/songwriter Benjamin "BJah" Cook came together in the summer of 2000 with friend’s -keyboardist Will Cannell, & guitarist Aaron Barrier to form Beyond Rhythm. Our music has proggressed into a life mission and purpose towards freedom and equality. Songs of love, truth, & faith is what we want to relay thru the lyrics. With so many bands watering down the music industry, we stay true to the roots and strive for an original sound. We have opened up for International artists thru out California such as Inner Circle, Elephant man, Pato Banton, Garth Dennis, Frankie Paul, Abijah & more. In 2003 we recorded a 4 song unreleased ep-"chip away" & in 2004 we recorded 2 songs featured on the Henhouse Studios compilation album released out of Venice Beach, CA. Since then we have recorded enough songs for our first album to be released some time in 2008, followed by a tour. Music is the most high and there is a message beyond the rhythm.. I haven’t left the usual words inspiration for a good many months… so here is what I have been feeling… Only the weak are cruel. Gentleness can only be expected from the strong. Constant kindness can accomplish much. As the sun makes ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust and hostility to evaporate.
