'The Ray of Spring' heißt die immer aktuelle CD von Beyond the Blue. Das erste gemeinsame Album der beiden Hamburger Musiker Wollenburg/Petersen umfasst 10 abwechslungsreiche Songs, die sich textlich mit der Frage auseinander setzen, wie sich ein Paar am Beispiel von Shakespeares Romeo und Julia wohl weiterentwickelt hätte, wenn die Beziehung auf den Prüfstand gestellt worden wäre. Hätten ihre Ideale und Vorstellungen romantisch verklärter Liebe den Belastungen ihres Alltags standgehalten? Ohne ihren gegenseitigen Respekt und die Achtung voreinander zu verlieren?
Beyond the Blue ist die Zusammenfassung zweier musikalischer Biographien. Sänger Frank Wollenburg widmete sich in den 80-er Jahren intensiv der Erforschung illustrer Pop-Ikonen wie Kate Bush, Eurithmics oder auch Tears for Fears. Jan Petersen studierte zeitgleich sämtliche Heavy Metal Varianten mit all seinen meist arg bizarren Unterarten.
Nachdem sich ihre bis-dato-Band Sophistree unter nie ganz geklärten Umständen im Jahre 2002 aufgelöst hatte, beschlossen Wollenburg/Petersen, ihre Vorliebe fürs Komponieren fortzusetzen. Mit 'The Ray of Spring' veröffentlichten sie Anfang 2008 ihr Debüt-Album. Die Musik vereint die unterschiedlichen Einflüsse der beiden Musiker zu einem eigenständigen Stil aus abwechslungsreichen Songs, charismatischem Gesang, virtuosen Gitarren und einfallsreichen Arrangements.

Beyond the Blue is the songwriter-duo of SYLVAN guitarist Jan Petersen and classic singer Frank Wollenburg. Their first album ‚The Ray of Spring‘ is the summation in creating their distinctive sound and style. Singer Frank Wollenburg adores Baroque Music especially J.S. Bach but also pop-protagonists like Kate Bush or Annie Lennox. Jan Petersen loves every kind of good music whether it is metal, jazz or classic.
The sparkling debut masterpiece ‚The Ray of Spring‘ contains 10 remarkable songs that are telling the story of a couple whose love is put to a test.
