Hutto Prizon for Kidz
Imprisoning children is against international law.
It's happening right here in the heart of Texas.
A UN Inspector was denied access to the facility. Isn't that why we're at war across the world right now?
Check out this story I wrote about the march pictured below. ..
And you say the United States doesn't have concentration camps?
Welcome to Raymondville Prison, otherwise known as the "Tent City." It is so called because of the enormous inflatable tents, which resemble the UT indoor soccer field, that house literally thousands of people in pursuit of the American Dream. I will not go into the immigration politics at this time, except to say that I am an immigrant's daughter, and who among us, except for this American Indian woman pictured and her folks, are not?
Reportedly, these folks had holes dug in the dirt floors to use as bath rooms. I can only imagine the stench of humiliation. So much for human rights. ..
Creating community in D.C.
I'm a community activist that dabbles in media. I went to the pro-peace march in D.C. at the end of January. We called for an end to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as a withdrawal of Israeli troops from lawful Palestine land. For the war in Iraq, we called on Congress to de-fund the war and for an appeal to the Arab League for help. We also called for the impeachments of (first) Cheney and (then) Bush.
Music
Iron and Wine, Olivia Tremor Control, Of Montreal, Dixie Chicks, Saul Williams, Ms. Led, the 88s, Lauryn Hill, Grandaddy, the Jicks, Le Tigre, John Lennon, Jack Johnson, india.arie, crazy French jazz music, Norah Jones, Dandy Warhols, to name but a few...
Your Aura is Orange
Your Personality: A total daredevil, you'll try any thrill. You're easily bored and you prefer to be on the go.
You in Love: You see love as an adventure, and you find most men dull. (True that!) You need a (wo)man who challenges you!
Your Career: Your ideal job is flexible, fun, and maybe a little dangerous. You have the makings of a private investigator or extreme athlete. (I always dreamed of being Nancy Drew...)
Paprika, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, Amelie, Ghost World, the Dangerous Lives of Alter Boys, Finding Nemo, Brokeback Mountain, among others...
Television
Fuck Television! Except for the Simpsons, Family Guy and That 70s Show...and Six Feet Under...[adult swim]...especially Paranoia Agent
Books
This question is way too hard for me...Right now, I'll say Anne of Green Gables, Lolita, Exception to the Rulers, No Logo, and I know why the caged bird sings. I'm currently reading "Reading Lolita in Tehran" and a book on Angels and Goddesses and a collection of Lewis Carroll stories (Alice in Wonderland, among others)...I think about writing older children/young adult fiction every once in a while...
Heroes
Anyone who stands up for truth and justice. Creative people. My Grandmother. People who dream. Every one of us.
Oh yeah, and definitely this guy: ..>
I'm a dreamer and a drifter, floatin' on through the journey...Finding direction in my re-discovery of hope and truth, and my re-visioning of love and faith...
The event pictured below is, in part, the result of a blog you will find above called "A Call to Action (sort of)." The call was answered.
In addition to actually getting the event together and off the ground, we got a Dallas Morning News preview story and a coverage video.
Nothing short of miraculous. And also PROOF that ONE person, with ONE idea, CAN make a difference. (The effects are residual, y'all - just cuz the war hasn't ended and SMU will probably still get the LIE-brary, doesn't mean it hasn't had other impacts, to all you cynics out there...)

Some fucked up shit: - WE LOVE YOU, NEW ORLEANS!!!
You Are Midnight
You are more than a little eccentric, and you're apt to keep very unusual habits.
Whether you're a nightowl, living in a commune, or taking a vow of silence - you like to experiment with your lifestyle.
Expressing your individuality is important to you, and you often lie awake in bed thinking about the world and your place in it.
You enjoy staying home, but that doesn't mean you're a hermit. You also appreciate quality time with family and close friends.
You are pretty evenly split down the middle - a total eunuch.
Okay, kidding about the eunuch part. But you do get along with both sexes.
You reject traditional gender roles. However, you don't actively fight them.
You're just you. You don't try to be what people expect you to be.

Who I'd like to meet: People who still dare to dream, even in the face of utter apathy and despair.
People who believe in our emotional power to connect with one another and grow networks of love and revolution.
People who trust in the spiritual power inside each of us, that, when aligned with the universal network, can manifest a new world.
In an effort to cross-pollinate my networks, and grow my own poor technical skills, I will be trying to synergize (I knew my diploma was good for something) my networks, contacts, resources...for the higher purpose, which at this time will remain undefined.
Slowly but surely we shed our old skins, and a new one's already grown in before we've taken notice.
Kindred spirits already know.
'Just puffing through to check on how your Quit Smoking Campaign is doing?
If the urge is still gnawing at you; try popping a Jolly Rancher into you mouth... of course 2 months from now we'll probably be talking about now newfound "JR" addiction =P~~

The lead-up to war in Iran is well underway and House Resolution 362, currently being considered is the first step. The resolution would authorize the blockade of Iran and prevent Iranian diplomats from traveling outside of the country. A peaceful resolution to conflict can not be found if leaders can not speak to each other. Make your voice heard this Friday during rush hour at the north east corner of Central and Meadow in Dallas [GET MAP]. Bring your signs, water and friends. Tell our elected officials to vote NO on HR 362 and NO to attacking Iran.
