О себе: BG Green Partnership for a Sustainable Community is a diverse network of citizens who seek to build a sustainable community in Bowling Green, Kentucky and the region through community education, outreach, and action. We support four goals: environmental stewardship, economic prosperity, social equity and citizen empowerment.
BGGreen seeks to increase awareness of how each person’s lifestyle choices impact the earth and quality of life, today and in the future, and take action to promote sustainable development in our community. Sustainable development is an approach to development which strives to meet the needs of the present generation without 1) jeopardizing environmental, social, and economic health and security and 2) compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
Areas of interest include, among others:
energy conservation, efficiency, and renewable energy
local foods and organic growing methods
minimizing waste through reduce, reuse, recycle and
redesign
preserving green space, farmland and clean waterways
“smart” growth to contain urban sprawl
mass public transit and other transportation alternatives
citizen empowerment in governance
Communities everywhere are finding that by moving toward a “greener” economy, new niches for local businesses, products and services are created, along with new jobs to boost the local economy. Dollars created in this way tend to “stick” in a community rather than being sent to distant owners and stakeholders, thereby helping to elevate the general standard of living. Also, by achieving greater self-sufficiency in production and goods delivery, communities and regions can begin to enjoy a renewed sense of prosperity, freedom from natural disasters and external threats, and security.

Just wanted to remind everyone of Al Gore's partyfor the planet on 7/7/07. We will be holding this concert event at the Mass Media & Technology Hall Auditorium at 7:00 pm. It will be like a potluck so everyone bring something to munch on! Hope to see you all there...
