BobbyG for now, solo 12-string semi-acoustic, though I'd love to have of couple of my Vegas homies join in to funk it up a bit. I'm thinkin' bass and hand percussion. 'eh? We could tear ass. Keep a couple of spare mics onstage for guests (Phil Wigfall on cowbell and alto, LOL!). Would that be fun, or what?
Influences
James Brown, Bo Diddley, Blood, Sweat, & Tears, Aretha, Otis Redding, Steve Cropper, Booker T. & the MGs, ,Rufus Thomas, Sam & Dave, Buzz Feiten, Beatles, Jack MacDuff, Maynard, Oscar Peterson, Sonny Stitt, Pat Martino, George Benson, Three Dog Night, Poco, Steven Stills, Kenny Loggins, Dan Fogelberg, Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young, Chicago, The Eagles, Al Jarreau (oh, yeah!), Santa Fe and the Fat City Horns (I am not worthy!), Bill Champlin, Carlos Santana, Cold Blood, Tower of Power, Toto, Steely Dan, Marc Russo, Dave Koz, Kurt Kolstad, The Grusin Brothers, Joni Mitchell, Taj Mahal, Shania Twain, Sheryl Crow, Brecker Brothers, David Sanborn, John Prine, Rascal Flatts, The Dixie Chicks, The Dixie Dregs, James Taylor, Sting, Alison Krauss, Frank Zappa, Phil Collins, Michael McDonald, Little Feat, Carlos Santana, The Beatles, St Paul Peterson, Shem von Schroeck...too many to list, actually.
Writer, songwriter, statistician, photographer, teacher, student, ex-road musician. The above cuts are some of my old Tascam-80 home studio demos from the early 1980's just before I quit playing to go White Collar. I'm fixin' to cut some of my new tunes shortly in an actual studio and post 'em here to replace these.
I dedicated "You've Got the Magic" to my late daughter, Sissy (my friend Jellyroll Johnson on harp). That was the first drum loop I ever programmed (on a friend's Yamaha RX-11), two looped 8-bar funk grooves. And, I wore a hole in my thumb doing that bass line, LOL!
"The Once and Future Fool" and "Without Loving You" (my friend Gary Loyd on lead vocal, Mark Douthit on alto on the latter) are both probably based somewhat loosely on ruminations on my crazed and doomed first marriage. Y'know, empathically, all the conflicting stuff afflicting bad relationships. "Wrong Enough to Love You Just Right" is a tune I wrote early on for my current love nearly 36 years, Cheryl. She had this sorority sister girlfriend who dissed me behind my back 'cuz I was a musician rather than someone "respectable" like a doctor or lawyer.

I'm happy and honored to inform you that our new album "MASISAMBA" is almost ready to be released via internet! (there is some artwork left to do). Thank you very much for your interest in what we do. Our MySpace player plays more than 150 times over night ! ! ! ! ! ! It inspires my colleagues ! ! ! ! ! There is not much real Big Band music in today's world. To be frank, it takes a lot of effort to keep musicians together. So your interest helps me to cope with this!
cordially, Armen Martirosian, artistic director, Armenian Jazz Band
P.S.I created a new group JAZZ ORCHESTRAS !!!!!!!!!
I love dropping by here. I can really appreciate the work you have done with the equipment you had to work with. I remember broom sticks for mic booms, and Ampex half track machines. God Bless Duct Tape!
