I DJ at WMPG in Portland Maine. My show is The Dollar Grab Bag, every Wednesday morning 4-6:30. I have DJ'd regularly for two years. And recreationally for years before that.
I'm an idea-man. Well-versed in music, but not much skill in actual performance. In this way, I'm good for criticism and suggestions, both lyrically and musically. I also have a "big view" of things, and am able to think in terms of whole albums.
I'm an amateur critic of film, television, music, politics and society. Currently I am focusing on music criticism and developing my skill there because my interests lie there today. I feel most competent in film criticism, but criticise society most

About me: I am a DJ looking for musicians to play on my radio show!
This is the real radio, heard in the stereos of everyday people! At home, the workplace, and in cars. Broadcasting throughout Southern Maine and streaming .. to reach a worldwide audience. The mainstream radio ceaselessly ignores great original music, and it's my goal to do what I can to correct this imbalance.
The Dollar Grab Bag is my weekly program on WMPG every Wednesday from 1:30-4am Eastern. More info and playlists are available at the geocities page, and playlists are in my blog too, along with some commentary that I can't yet rightly call reviews. More info about WMPG is available at the wikipedia entry.
WMPG is a community radio station in Portland Maine, broadcasting on 90.9 and 104.1, and streaming .. 24/7 to the whole world!

Make sure you include your MySpace address with the CD so that I know who it came from. Please also send me a message here .. and let me know that you sent something so that I will be expecting it and I can let you know if anything goes wrong with the mail.
Friend Request notification
Due to the volume of friend requests, I can only promise to check those which come with a note, just some bit of communique that shows me you are human and care. I also can only promise to give you feedback if you specifically request it. And if you want a real in-depth responce, I can do so on commision as promotional material fees. Thanks for understanding how busy my schedule is.
Featured MySpace Musician Every few weeks I will feature a musician from MySpace, here on my profile, in my blog, and more importantly, I will play their music on my show on WMPG. If you want to be the featured musician, send me a message and I will check out your myspace. Be sure to let me know if you believe WMPG has a CD of yours or what.
10/11/06: Bis (MySpace Page)
Glasgow gave us this band in 1994, an unbelievably well-mixed combination of punk, techno, pop, ska, and j-pop, that somehow becomes more than the sum of its parts. Upbeat and pissed off, you will jump and scream and love this band. Social consciousness is here. And you can watch them mature from their earliest efforts and into 1999 and 2000 when they went more into a purer technopop vein. Bis unfortunately disbanded in 2003, but they are still one of my favorite bands. (their article on Wikipedia)
Important info about myself as a DJ and music lover
I am very very serious about music. If you make music to get laid, make big bucks, party, or just to inflate your hollow self-image, I have zero interest in you. But if music is serious to you as well, and you have a need to create music that expresses authentic human experiences, intellectual concepts, and seek to ever refine your understanding of music and powers of performance... then we should talk.
Me Me Me
I'm using this site more and more for the purposes of networking in music and keeping up with a bunch of my friends who have gotten into it, and finding old classmates and such.
Anyway, I'm a DJ at WMPG here in Portland and I live with my girlfriend of four years. There's not much else to tell beyond what you can glean from the rest of my profile.
I've just updated some of my profile, especially my music list. Apologies, if it seems especially long; but, hey, I'm a fucking DJ, so what do you expect?
Who I'd like to meet: Musicians of substance from all genres and backgrounds. I will play your music on the radio. Really. The actual radio, which also streams on the internet. Can you believe it?
intellectuals and music lovers. People who know about independant stuff: movies, music, comics, books, whatever. The more obscure the better.
