bicycle, tricycle comes from the mind of bohb, a driven if not directed; known if not loved; remarkable if not respected; omnipresent if not invited fixture of the Chicago music scene. Envisioning himself as Brian Eno but behaving more like Phil Spector, bohb casts himself as composer and director of his ad hoc symphony.
bohb established himself in the Chicago music scene as a sound engineer and tour manager for many notable, if not financially successful acts. Cashing in on those relationships he coerced these musicians into his unfortunately secret society. Grouping the artists into a constantly evolving cast of bandmates for each recording and live performance kept bicycle, tricycle slippery and slimy, escaping definition, genre, notoriety and fans. To greater and lesser degrees these tactics of pretentiousness resulted in many a beautiful failure, such as the 23 song 2002 debut, '10111'.
With the 2003 EP 'The Law of Fives' bicycle, tricycle unleashed a pure pop platter of hits for your pleasure. Holding no trickery unchecked, unashamed to pander for your attention. Followed up by 2005's 'The Principle Induction', bicycle, tricycle finished dabbling in the electro pop trend with a full album of computerized delights, with many guest performances throughout.
As a second release in 2005 bicycle, tricycle offered up 'Real As You Believe', an exercise back to 'real' musicianship: decidedly not using any programming, midi or loop crutches. A collection of not-so-modern rock that reflected the more dated influences that enriched our headphones.
And that brings us to the now. Bohb has been joined in a rather consistent basis by a talented group of cohorts. Tom Szidon on bass, Jason Batchko on drums and John San Juan on guitar. We've embraced our Donovan and worshiped our T. Rex and now we want to get easy-going with you. Our newest collection, an album titled 'Stay Foolish, Stay Hungry' is available for your pleasuring and an online retailer near you.
The next release, working title 'Sassy Among Such Sod', is being written and recorded now with song previews posted for your perusal.
