"Circus freaks, sideshow performers, exhibitionists, and straight-up weirdos. Big Top Magazine gives a voice to them all. Finally!"
~ SF Bay Guardian

"The circus is a tiny closed off arena of forgetfulness. For a space
it enables us to lose ourselves, to dissolve in wonder and bliss, to be
transported by mystery. We come out of it in a daze, saddened and
horrified by the everyday face of the world. But the old everyday
world, the world with which we imagine ourselves to be only too familiar,
is the only world, and it is a world of magic inexhaustible."
--Henry Miller, The Smile at the Foot of the Ladder
Big Top is always searching for more content for the magazine. If you want to contribute, please contact me through the site at www.bigtopmagazine.com - find my email info there, and - THANKS!

OH, WOE UNTO THEE who sayeth in the most feeble of mind, "Thanks for thee add" in the Comentseth, for thou will be deleteth with nary a thought or give-a-fucketh! Would you dare use-eth the comment space to herald and try to sneaketh in an advertisement, the same unto you, you most filthy whore!
I mean c'mon. Don't be a fucking idiot. You really don't need to thank me for the add, and if that's all you have to say, it ain't going up on my page. If you want to advertise what you have, the comment space isn't the place to do THAT, either. If you really want to advertise, do it on Big Top Magazine.
IF, however, you have something interesting, perhaps even intelligent (gasp!) to say, maybe, gods love ya, letting me know that you actually have taken a look at the magazine - or really, *anything* that lets those who actually look at the comments smile, or escape the mundane world for a moment, then hell yeah, I'll be happy to accept it as an actual comment on my page - and on top of that, I'll appreciate the hell out of you.
Big Top Love,
~ kSea

About me: Broadcasting the Worldwide Indie Circus & Arts Revolution!

Born out of the vision of having one beautiful place where we all could go to learn more about our favorite dreamers, creators, and conjurers of magick, Big Top was begun in February of 2008 on a slow, dying laptop, sitting on the floor of a strange non-running RV kinda thing. Having absolutely no knowledge of web design, I had a dream, & I had enough bourbon to keep me going - and that was all I needed.
It was first launched on May 1st, 2008, the first issue being small & aesthetically unpleasing, but immensely beautiful in it's own way. It was my horribly ugly baby... but I've learned a few things since then.
Somehow, Big Top won the "Best of The Bay" from the SF Guardian after only two months in existence, and continues to get better, stronger, and more widely known as people find out about it - as people find a home.
Now created on a borrowed laptop on the same floor, the dream lives on, and continues to get better every issue!
Sincere thanks to all of those who have taken the time to have conversations with me to help this continue, all of the people who have offered either loving praise or a shoulder to cry on when things got rough, and especially Isa, Cameron, & Big Tops former transcriber, Nilambari, who have volunteered their help and friendship, & without whom (and, ahem, your financial support) Big Top wouldn't be possible.
My first production in August of '08 - and man, it was an absolute BLAST!
NOW, coming to you - Big Top Magazine's One Year Anniversary Extravaganza, on Saturday, May 2nd in San Francisco, and it's going to be WILD!
Stay tuned for information on advance tickets, as this event WILL sell out!
Who I'd like to meet: "Damn everything but the circus!
...damn everything that is grim, dull, motionless, unrisking, inward turning, damn everything that won't get into the circle, that won't enjoy, that won't throw its heart into the tension, surprise, fear and delight of the circus, the round world, the full existence..."
— E.E. Cummings

On the other hand it is an even greater honour than even that offered by joining the courageous sally of Dexippus in Athens and burning the Vandal fleet riding at anchor whilst they molested the Parthenon to admit you onto the fields of me esteem. Thy magazine I must read...
