» BigBeat Drum School was initiated by Dennis Leeflang in 2006. Born and raised in The Netherlands, Dennis was classically trained at an early age, playing snare drum in various renown Dutch brass bands. Once having switched to the drum set, Dennis proceeded to play with several major European rock acts when he was only a teenager. He relocated to New York City in 2004, where he is now a fammilar face in the New York indie rock scene, as a drum educator, and internationally as the drummer for Bumblefoot (aka Ron Thal, Guns N' Roses' lead guitarist).
Next to recording and touring, Dennis has taught drums privately in The Netherlands since 1999, as well as at the Drummers Initiative drum school in Amsterdam. Dennis has studied with many European teachers, and in New York with educators such as Dom Famularo.
» Touring all over Europe, the US and other parts of the world with his bands since 1996, Dennis started combining his passion for travelling and sharing knowledge, performing clinics and masterclasses all over the globe. With a thorough understanding of how to educate beginning drummers, and how to inspire and complement the repertoire of advanced drummers, Dennis founded BigBeat Drum School in 2006.

» Another one of the school's most important qualities is its flexibility. Rather than having one set location, BigBeat works with teachers and schools spread out over the five boroughs of New York City.
Our main studio has two professional drum sets set up, fully equipped with high-end SABIAN cymbals and EVANS drum heads. The studio is located in Long Island City (Queens), right by the Queensboro bridge, Queensboro Plaza (N, W, 7 trains), Queens Plaza (R, V, E, G trains) and 21 St/Queens Bridge (F train). That's the first stop in Queens on all trains going into Queens. Only minutes from downtown/midtown Manhattan!
