"the Brownies could be Xerox Girls' attitudinal, imperiously cool nieces and nephews. Brilliantly out of step with current modish indie trends, full of heart-in-mouth moments and a hatred so finely tuned it's almost sexy, Means To An End is a handstand, a cartwheel and a kick in the nuts and it demands your immediate surrender." - THE GUARDIAN SINGLE OF THE WEEK
This is a huge scoop for us and definitely a gig not to be missed!!
Support for the evening comes from Anola Gray and I Saved Latin. Two of the areas finest up and coming bands.
,p. Andy Votel is internationally respected amongst djs, record collectors and producers as a champion collector of obscure psych-folk-prog-hip hop-jazz-trash-kraut-fuzz-tropicalia and funk. He is co-owner (with badly drawn boy) of Manchester based label Twisted Nerve and has remixed tracks by Ian Brown, Death in Vegas, Lamb and The Avalanches.
The evening will also feature a special live performance from Jonjo Feather. With two highly acclaimed singles under his belt on Dead Young Records and his debut album due in April, this will be his first hometown show in over a year.
Additional dj sets come from Leeds Hi-fi Club’s Boogaloo residents (latin, funk, 60's beat, ska) and Laputa’s Johnny Boy (psych, funk, freakbeat).
“God bless Andy Votel.” David Holmes
"Raspy sensuality and buzzed up distorted swagger...the beats are off kilter and original...the Leeds scene has something to cheer again, go Jonjo, go." The Daily Mirror
