"I rep Florida till the day I die." Plainly put, Big Co loves his state, his people, the atmosphere of the South, and the game. Big Co has Italian heritage but was born in Costa Rica. As an infant, Big Co and his family relocated to Frostproof, a city in Polk County, Florida, unfortunately also known for its heavy drug activity. His future seemed to be getting dark, he started hanging with the older dealers and skipping class to make money hustling. Seeing a lot of his friends start to vanish due to the system, he decided to give up the lifestyle of a hustler and turn to the rap game. He took his life and painted a picture with his music, Not to glorify his past, but to use his experience’s for a better cause and let people learn from his mistakes. He began to write verses in the late 90s, and the positive feedback he received from different people gave him confidence to keep pursuing a career as a rapper.
Over the past 12 years, Big Co has perfected his writing to deliver flawless rhyming with the unique voice and perspective of a Central Floridian, a region that desperately needs a voice to paint a portrait of the local lifestyle. Florida possesses the qualities of being urban and rural simultaneously. His music is very street, but his brand of hip-hop brings a different flavor than the typical media portrayal of rap music. Like he says on his track I’m From Florida, he is homegrown in the groves, hands ready to throw. His verses may sound like tough talk, but he is a rapper with burning charisma that will back up every syllable he puts in his music.
In his CD, Before the Hype, Big Co's hunger is heard as he says in his own words " I speak about real issues that'll make your momma wipe her face with tissues". He does not hold back the truth as he addresses the reality of people loosing their family due to the system. His second CD entitled, The Fratelli Vol. 1 has gained mass popularity throughout Central Florida. Big Co keeps his audience wanting more. The Fratelli Vol. 2 was released in 2007 and features more tracks that tell the true story about everyday life with something everyone can relate to.
He is currently working on his next CD Welcome To The Fratelli which will be released in the first quarter of 2009 and is equally, as powerful and positive as his other three CDs. Big Co sometimes works with childhood friend, Special Ops a fellow Central Floridian. His new CD has been made with the assistance of Producer Perion a.k.a. LumbaJack, known for Juvenile’s “The Way I Be Leanin” and Bun B “24’s”.
His major influences include 2Pac, Nas, and Bun B, Young Jeezy, Pitbull and of course Florida natives DJ Magic Mike, Jam Pony Express, and 2 Live Crew, and contemporary artists Talib Kweli, . Big Co has opened up for Gucci Mane, Naughty By Nature, Fat Joe, Lil Webbie, Afroman, Acafool. And currently just got off tour with Oj the Jucieman and E-40 all throughout California. He has performed at the Island Fever tour with Jr. Maile and Big Pati. He has recently preformed at the famous classic in Orlando Florida for a crowd of 10,000. He has worked with artist Tom G, and has done some ghostwriting in the industry. On the production tip, Big Co has worked with producers Perion J, aka LumbaJack, Keef Thompson and also Grammy-nominated producers Bill Hamel, Alex Greggs.
