Dylan Sweet was born August 4, 1984, to a family that had enough love to fill the city that he was born in, Las Cruces, New Mexico. Yet, his family began to fall apart in 1988 with the death of his mother leaving him and his father with no home and barely enough money for food until he was 7. As Dylan stated, “We lived in some of the scariest places and times that I would want no one else to experience.” The person that experienced this life, but wants no one else to experience, is the person that I am introducing you to.
As a young child, rather than feeling sorry for himself, he began to dream of the day that he would show others that life could always be better. Today he works with every part of his heart and soul to become the actor, singer and songwriter that will help to show all that even if they come from backgrounds of abuse of any type, poverty, single parent homes or have no parents at all; they can have a positive tomorrow to look forward to. His goal is not just to have a successful career; it is to help people live positive lives rather than drowning in the depths of despair of whatever their life situation is or was in the past.
No finer example is exhibited than a young man who is happy to share and work with children in a shelter for battered and poverty stricken women and their children; La Casa. These children, age 5 and up, look forward to their dance lessons with Dylan while he admits that since he started working with them in 2006, he has learned through their smiles what it truly means to make a difference in someone’s life. He has taught these kids, through dance, that they have a bright tomorrow to look forward to, no matter what they are living through today. These kids know that Dylan’s past was much the same as the lives they are living today.
