biggerthanME productions aim to generate dance and multi-media inspired performance-art. To create and establish educational packages, and workshops, thereby encouraging greater understanding of individuality and self-expression, through the medium of dance and music.
To explore the bond between music, movement, spoken-word, and song whilst seeking to push the boundaries of both form and format.
To produce contemporary works of art which stimulate the senses, raise political issues/awareness, entertain, inform and celebrate humanity..........
where imagination, creativity and expression blossom:biggerthanME.....
Mike Scott-Harding and Gerrard Martin.
THE SONG and THE DANCE..........
these are the two elements of expression which are, not only intrinsic to our physical & social development, but also form our link to Nature and, indeed, our spiritual search for the 'divine'.
Mike & Gerrard's artistry is both fuelled, and informed, by their urban, multi-cultural environment;
they seek to fuse their love of 'the song' and 'the dance' (in all their many forms) with an appreciation of the varied media now being used to entertain, educate, and placate us.
'biggerthanME' is a spring-board for creating multi-media pieces that will invite debate (through topic), excite emotions (through empathy), and inspire plaudits (through articulate execution).
In using such diverse art-forms as film, photography, painting, 3-D sculpting, grafitti-art, spoken-word poetry, and comedy to amplify 'the song' and 'the dance', the aim is to create interesting new pieces in a range of formats, and for any number of different types of venue.
In this way, through the idea of QUALITY ECLECTICISM and COLLABORATION, all their work will strive to be.......

The inspiration behind this song, I don’t even think it’s an inspiration but a sadness behind it, is the loss of my brother, Andile James Makiwne, who died in a car accident in April 2006. For a while after that, everything went blank for me, I couldn’t write music, I had no inspiration whatsoever and saw how hard it was for my mother to take the loss, and knowing that the relationship that I had with him will be no more.
I know that there are people who lost someone they loved through street crime, accidents, wars, and death as a whole that will relate to what I felt when I lost my brother. I kept this song to myself for years but hope this acoustic performance of it would touch someone.
You can download the song for FREE HERE!
Blessings
