Born out of chaos and a therapeutic need for musical and lyrical release, Big Gun Baby is an intensely energetic and mix of post punk/deviant pop. The dynamic intensity of their songs is brought to life during their exhilarating live performances with dirty driving bass lines, infectious dance beats, angry soaring guitars and seething yet melodic vocals.
Big Gun Baby was formed in America in late 2006 by two displaced Londoners, Jaycee (vocals) and Graeme (bass, guitar, drum programming) who originally met when they both featured prominently in the London music scene, Jaycee as an accomplished acoustic singer songwriter, Graeme as the bass player in a number of successful punk and alternative rock bands. Their clash of eclectic influences and disparate personalities formed an unlikely yet perfect musical bond, creating an exciting raw and fresh new sound. After recruiting several local musicians they quickly received recognition, performing many high profile gigs in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas with numerous nationally renowned acts, while receiving regular airplay on local radio and rave reviews in the local media.
In 2007, Jaycee and Graeme returned home to the UK, spending a year touring throughout the country performing with the aid of a groovebox as a stripped down 2-piece and working with up and coming dance producers to remix some of their songs. This new approach helped to refine their sound even further, resulting in the writing some of their best new songs yet. Their debut UK single received regular airplay on numerous local radio stations as well as being featured on a compilation c.d. issued by Loud News Magazine.
After a successful year in the UK, Big Gun Baby have once again returned to the shores of America, based in Salt Lake City and more eager than ever to make an impact on the American music scene. Since returning to the U.S., they have already received widespread recognition, headlining the Park Stage at The Utah Arts Festival and have been featured on Park City TV, K.R.C.L. radio, Utah FM, X96’s Live and Local and in the City Weekly where Bill Frost described them as a ‘must see live’ band.
Big Gun Baby’s current line up includes Brandon on drums, Scott on guitar and Jenny and keyboards. They plan to spend the summer of ’09 recording their next e.p. and producing an accompanying video. Plans are also underway to make a west coast and east coast tour in the fall, 2009 promises to be an exciting year for Big Gun Baby…
