TALIZMAN have a rather unique sound and don't sound like any particular band. We put our stamp of ownership on every song we play. We have a very full, thick instrumental sound across the entire range of material we perform.
If pressed for an answer I'd say we sound a little like Mountain mixed with ZZ Top mixed with Cream, but I reckon we sound like us.
I have a gravelly voice and Leon has a three-octave-plus range so there's always a voice that suits the songs we play. When Trish sings lead vocal the entire dynamic of the band changes and we in effect become her backing band supplying backup harmonies. We still pack that TALIZMAN punch no matter who sings the lead vocal. That added versatility of being able to perform songs by female acts is an extra string to our bow that we utilize to the full.
Hi, I'm JIM McALLISTER.
I've been in and out of bands since 1973 and have been working full-time in the music industry since 1997 as a soloist playing to backing tracks. Occasionally since 1997 I've joined a few bands when things went a bit dead in my solo career but I've never found a band where the chemistry, work ethic, enthusiasm, and expectations of the other band members even remotely matched my own....until now.
TALIZMAN were formed in mid 2005 by an aspiring singer who needed to recruit a professional band to back him. Leon and I were known as a guitar/bass team looking for the right drummer and Trish was on the comeback trail after taking some time away from live performing to raise a family. After one gig the singer left for personal reasons and the three of us decided to stay together and share the vocals between us. Leon and I had been in two bands over the previous two years but the chemistry wasn't right in each case. Trish was the drummer in the singer's old band and I already knew her from playing bass for them on a few occasions as a fill-in. We three just naturally clicked and found playing together to be a real pleasure.
We have a mature professional attitude and a 100% success rate so far as getting return bookings at venues is concerned. We play Classic Rock, Rock'n'Roll, Blues, and if a pretty girl asks me nicely enough, some Country Rock.
We've been told by other respected musicians that our live sound is the thickest fullest sound they've heard from a three-piece band. I think our live demo tracks give adequate evidence of this. As a four-piece we deliver even more with the addition of rhythm guitar and more variety in the vocals. Our video was filmed at a big Biker function on June 11th 2006. This was Duffy's first gig with us but I reckon you'd never know it from the interplay and all-around good vibe so obviously present.
As well as having been a guitarist for most of my life I have also lifted weights for even longer, since I was 12 years old in fact. I achieved conspicuous success in Drug Free Powerlifting during the 1980s and still train regularly, although no longer involved in competition. I welcome friend requests and discussion from fellow iron pumpers as well as musicians and people in general.
Jim McAllister
You see me on the horizon, I always come alone.
Traveling the highways, no friend to call my own.
Come into your city, don’t care how near or far.
Hard as nails, a loner, I live by my guitar.
I live my life my way, follow my own code.
Living for my music, and the never-ending road.
You won’t understand me, I walk a different path.
Fire burning in my heart, can’t do things by half.
You ask me what drives me, as if you’d understand.
Never had it easy, never had no helping hand.
People try to shut me down, but I won’t go away.
The Blues and me are partners until my dying day.
Iron in my fingers, and gravel in my throat,
Everything I feel comes out in every note.
Honor in my heart, I’ve paid up all my dues.
Don’t care what you call me, I’m the Black Knight of the Blues.

Wishing you a happy holiday season, and a prosperous new year. Hope all your projects are on track.
Forget about downloading our music on itunes etc... we've got something even MORE exciting.
You can now actually OWN a piece of the band. Instead of buying our cd right now - you can be a shareholder in our next one. It's a brilliant system - check it out!
You pick how many shares you want to buy - and then once the album is done, you start making money! :) And of course you can back out at any time. It would be really cool to have you on board for this.
MyHotCommentsWanted to stop and say "G'day Jim" and let ya know I haven't forgotten about ya!!!..Hope all is well!!...take care my sweet friend!! God Bless...Hugz, M~
This is our singer Eric, all by himself - playing "Interstate Love Song" by Stone Temple Pilots. If you like it - be sure to share it with people - it's a fun acoustic version of the song! :) The code is at the end of the song!
