big mama red hails most recently from austin, texas but is proud to have her roots in both the north and south including both new york city and boston. her persona was born while residing in lone star state singing and hosting for austin's burlesque troupe kitty kitty bang bang and at the world famous esther's follies. her southern yankee drawl mixes the sweet and sassy creating this sultry songstress. mama takes the stage ala sophie tucker, mae west, ruth brown and all the other balsy, bawdy divas that did it loud, proud and beautiful. she goes old school as she makes her way through the crowd, joking with and singing to them, creating a great, interactive atmosphere. mama has performed in denver at the pink elephant, the bluebird, the oriental, jonesy's, 3 kings, the soiled dove and lannie's clocktower cabaret.
