BIOGRAPHY:
Nashir Lee Lindsay, aka Big Na was born on October 14, 1977 in Camden, New Jersey. Big Na stayed in Camden until the ripe age of (7) when his family relocated to Winston-Salem, North Carolina where he now resides. At the time, he could have never seen that this move would lead to a future which included participating in a show in Atlanta with Kenye West; opening for UTP at a popular Winston-Salem nightclub, the Matrix; doing a concert for Amelia of Roc_A-Fella; performing for a show hosted by radio station 102 JAMZ or performing in a band tour at Livingston College in Salisbury, North Carolina. At such a young age, Big Na found himself looking on as his cousin freestyle lyrics amongst their peers. Big Na begins to find him singing along with his cousin. His free styling led to his participation in competitions in the neighborhood and in school. However Big Na felt like school was not were he wanted to be so circumstances made it easy for him to drop out and be educated in the streets. A product of his environment, Big Na found himself interacting with the wrong crowd, hustling and engaging in illegal activities. Which lead me in and out of the court system? At the age of 20, my activities began to catch up with me. The hood rivalries I sometimes participated in ended in a shoot out and ultimately an arrest. At the time what I thought was just a shoot out ended up being armed robbery with a deadly weapon. I was charged and sentenced to (4) years in prison. Time alone on the block enabled me to rekindle love for the lyrics. Having nothing but time on my hands I was able to perfect my skill and use the fellow inmates as my audience. My notoriety for universal free styling earned me the title of "King of the Pin", a title I so justly deserved after winning several camp to camp competitions. |
