My wife and son. Her Rollerderby and our Wado Ryu. Friends. Cooking. Canoeing. Hiking/Backpacking. Rockclimbing. Mountain Biking. Booze. My Organic gardens. Those Dutchland Rollers. Helping the people I care about. Laughing out loud. Fine dining. Dive bars. Being skeptical. Yoga. Video Games. Skateboarding. Wine. Sounding like a smarty pants. Music. Body art. Customizing cars and trucks. Drinkin' and the subsequent laughing out loud. Knowledge. Living life. Trying to figure out what this crazy world is all about. Leaving this place better than I found it.
If I were a spy, this is what I'd drive. Hands down.
Can I borrow 80 grand? Pay ya back, promise!
Music
Punk, Jazz, Classic R&B, Traditional Irish songs (seafaring, drinkin' and fightin' FTW!), Metal, Rock, Reggae and Classical - in that order, but not seperated by much.
Movies
Best movies I've seen recently - Hard Candy, No Country for Old Men, In Bruges, Weirdsville, The Signal, Shrooms, Grindhouse: Deathproof, The Machinist, Drive Thru, The Legend of the Shadowless Sword, Hostel I & II, The Dark Knight, Serpico, Ghandi, Hotel Rwanda, Doomsday, New Legend of Shaolin, and Cloverfield.
Akira Kurosawa, Quentin Tarantino, Tim Burton, Stanley Kubrick, Martin Scorsese, Kevin Smith, Herschell Gordon Lewis, Eli Roth. Independent films. The Marx Brothers can still make me laugh uncontrollably. And definitely Martial Arts. Samurai, Ninjas, Kung Fu, Muay Thai, old, new, all of it.
Television
Discovery Channel(s), Learning Channel, IFC, BBC, G4, Food Network. Lost, The Whitest Kids U' Know, Naruto, Survivorman, Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations, and Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia. But I really do prefer TV shows that support or provoke thought. I'm also a big fan of whoever was genius enough to create the sexiest fitness show EVAR!:
Books
My son's bedtime stories. Period.
Heroes
His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet.
And people that have the talent to transform feelings and ideas into the tangible things that untalented people such as myself can view.
Loyal as a lap dog and twice as handy. Able to fix or build many things with nothing more than a few tools, some beers, and a few choice words. Born and raised Irish Catholic - kept the former, dropped the latter.A classic INFJ and a Wood Tiger, although I don't believe in things I can't immediately see or have proven to me (but some of the coincidences can be striking). Excellent Derby Widow and #1 Dad.
Future independent researcher; philosopher; and proprietor of a farm with character including a tractor, winery, christmas tree farm, cafe, catering business and public house. Then I'm retiring to Ireland. Take THAT long term goals!
I dig the intelligent counter culture of freaks that weaves itself in and out of the main stream. I live green, both enviromentally and recreationally. Desperately holding on to those last threads of punk rock attitude. Art. Wood carving, paper folding, photography and jewelry making are hobbies. Wanna do oil painting. I'd love to get into some stone carving. Van Gogh. Monet. Matisse. Bob Ross (Seriously). Gothic architecture. Japanese silk paintings. Bridges. Frank Lloyd Wright. Arts&Crafts style housing and such. Big metropolotan architecture from the 1920's and 30's (Google 1936 Cord 810. Seriously beautiful car.). So, drop me a line, I'll be your friend. Maybe we'll share a laugh, and feel all warm and tingly, if only for a little while.
I might also have an unhealty addiction to Harvest Cheddar Sun Chips.
Who I'd like to meet:
Hard hittin fishnet wearin tattooed girls on quads.
Les Stroud if I were lost in the wilderness.
The person in the pub buying me a pint, simply because my glass is empty.
Last month's semifinal game between Scare Force One and the Cherry Blossom Bombshells came down to a nail-biting double overtime, and the Bombshells are trying to carry that momentum to vanquish the fierce DC DemonCats, who haven't lost a game since October. This exciting season championship matchup will be the last DC Rollergirls home game until the fall, so don't miss out!
In addition, fans can watch an expo matchup between Scare Force One and the River City Rollergirls of Richmond, VA, and check out Jason Leffler's #38 NASCAR showcar. Plus, in honor of Mother's Day, moms will get a gift at the door!
It's tailgating season, so come early to Stadium/Armory Lot 3 and get a head start on the fun! The lot opens at 3 p.m.
Tickets are available in advance through Ticketmaster (service charge applies), at the RFK Stadium box office and at the door on bout day.

Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I came across some stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, the fundamentals are still relevant today.
