Look at the Vonage website for more details. | | Music | Recently took up the bass after playing acoustic guitar since I was a late teen-ager, five years ago started playing electric guitars and tube amps. If I had it to do over again I would have started playing plugged up years and years ago. Same with the bass. When I can I enjoy going to Ona's on 20th street in Birmingham and listening to Mart Avant's Night Flight Big Band. They play there 1st and 3rd Wednesdays and it is a spiritual experience--at least 15 horns and sometimes more, knocked out rhythm section, all lifelong players, really strong charts....

I love Jesus and He loves me...and that figures into my music too! | | Movies | I have a VCR and a DVD player and a basketfull of stuff to put in them but by and large I just never "got" movies, but still enjoy the occasional one anyway. I guess my receptors are all hung up on music.
One time I thought I wanted to act, and put myself "out there" in a couple of community theatre productions. I loved especially one play in Meridian, Mississippi where I had a chance to work with a really caring, demanding, greatly competent and artistically gifted director named Jimmy Pigford. I will always be thankful for that experience, just to have gotten the chance to see how it is done right. We rehearsed all over town, usually in Methodist church rec halls, but the production was staged at the Sanger Theatre, and I bet Sela Ward strode the same boards!!
An experience with this flaming fool incompetent who seemed more intent on flitting around and making his ass light up like a firefly rather than actually getting involved with DIRECTING THE ACTORS and the play broke me from doing Theatre. That was in Pensacola. I was cast opposite a woman who was so strangely animated that it made me look like a fool...she played it like it was an opera rather than a play and the so-called director let her get away with it...say yuck! three times!!! | | Television | Use it for information, weather reports, local and Fox news, the occasional Alabama football game when I am home and it's on, or when my mind needs to take a vacation and I am too tired to pay attention to music or reading or creative computing. | | Books | The last one I read that I enjoyed was written by Ernest Hemingway, like Bill Faulkner and the poetry of Everette Maddox, James Dickey, Anais Nin, and of course Louis Grizzard, RIP | | Heroes | Jesus, Everette Maddox(a NOLA poet), Townes VanZandt, Rev Kenneth Hagin, Paul Prudhomme |
