I got into bell's music through, tim rogers from the band youami who covered a bigstar song and then on some compilation he and some other guy covered you and your sister and it sounded like such a beautiful song. I bought all the big star albums and then finally I found the iam the cosmos disc and it really did blow my mind, it made me feel like i did the first time i heard 'the soft bulletin' by the flaming lips....what a voice he is a cosmic american voyager
chris made real blues music. such a short, sad time on earth. i hope some day chris' story gets as much recognition as nick drake, patsy, hank or robert johnson.
I dont even know what to say. Yesterday I brought out I Am The Cosmos and #1 Record for a little road trip and while listening to "Look Up" the tears welled up in my eyes. Chris has been and always will be an inspiring soul not only to the music I write but to life in general.
Hi everyone, please allow me to introduce myself... I'm a Swede named Christian Soderholm and I play and sing my own songs. New songs have been added from something I myself refer to as "The Depression Tapes". Please come by and listen! Happy times, oh happy times!
Surf-rock / rockabilly / punk-new wave: All these terms can easily define the music of rocker veterans The Fleshtones through the years. They've been together longer than most of you have been alive, and that means something in an industry that sees many bands bands come along and go on their way within 5-6 years.
Joining these guys will be Tiger! Tiger!, the Atlanta rocktresses you should remember from the Man or Astroman? show back in '06, and Birmingham favorites The Rewinds.
Join us for a night of rock, old and new!

Chris Bell is a big influence for us and many others.
It's to bad he's not here to see it.
You were are and shall always be BIG STAR to us!
R.I.P. Chirs bell You are the cosmos
"You and Your sister" was the first Big Star connected music I ever heard way way back. It haunted me. I didn't manage to find out what it actually was for a couple of years. It then led me to discovering all of the Star's music. The first LP is amazing, but "I Am The Cosmos" is right up there in my all time top Ten... thanks for setting up this page so more people can discover Chris's music..
I love Chris Bell so much, I used "Look Up" for a song title.
Chris singing at the top of his range was an achingly beautiful thing.....and it could make a grown man cry...
R.I.P
thanks for the add - i've listened to this album countless times and i still get a gorgeous rush of emotions with that opening: every night i tell myself i am the cosmos...
Thanx for the add. I'm a huge BIG STAR fan and for me Chris' contribution to the star was as much important as Alex's. I am still very sorry that he is no longer with us.
...Every night I tell myself
I am the cosmos, I am the wind
But that don't get you back again...
THANX for this page
