“It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.”
~ Ernest Hemingway's "The Sun Also Rises."
About me: FFRT was formed in 1997, in order to promote:
*Greater use of the trail through improved safety, maintenance, and publicity.
*Healthy lifestyles by promoting bicycling to new and existing cyclists as transportation and recreation.
*Improved facilities along the trail.
*Extension of the trail's length and movement toward a city/county trail system.
We meet at the Farmers' Market every Sunday, May-October, at 2pm. There are 2 rides: the Family Fun Ride and the Fitness Ride!
The Family Fun Ride is 2 loops, approx. 3-4 miles each.
The Fitness Ride is 1 loop, approx. 12 miles long, traveling at about 10-12 mph.
Hello fellow riders. I was informed today that a bike that was stolen from me last year may have been spotted around the Atwood Stadium area. I figured I'd post a pic to get the word out. This bike was my first complete build, finished it in May of 07, stolen June 15th 07. Any info can be sent right to my myspace page. Thanks to all and especially the guys I spoked to near the bus station this afternoon!! More detailed pics can be found here http://forums. mtbr. com/showthread. php?p=4563907#post4563907
Just a heads up for those riding the trail; The trail that is east of Dort, that runs along the water facility has a pile of planking and floor boards that look like they came from an old boat. I would have cleared the trail but was running late on my commute to work. The pile is at the end of the dirt trail as you would turn to the right and go under the rail road tracks. Some boards even had nails pointing straight up.
