6/22/09 2:30 Am A poem written with my daughter in mind
Let it be what it will be.
When I was young and my world was new
I met a girl and there a bond once grew, we were
Young and rash and things went wrong as they often do.
To make matters worse my father's abuse just grew and grew.
Put it this way, The pain of a horse whip I often knew.
So I thought to reinvent myself was what I must do.
Life's road stretched out before me, so down that road I did Run. With a heart filled with pain from her and anger for him I became a lose gun.
So many many years from the pain I did run. Then I found a wife who showed me the side of life that was fun, I love her so, so much She'll never know. She quiets the pain and together we face this life's rain.
Now 24 years have past, whirling by they did go and
I recently found in my youth there was something I did not know, with in the that girl so many years ago, a beautiful life did grow. Now she's an adult, well adjusted, lovely and smart as can be. Sadly, all without any help from me.
I regret missing her childhood more then Words can say.
Thinking of how much time has gone away, How much we both lost and what the ultimate cost will be.
In years to come will she
Think fondly of me or just another guy in her life will I be?
Will my grown up little girl run to or away from me?
Only time will tell, I will have to wait and see.
In Her life I pray I'll be but I need to be strong
For her, right this wrong and let it be what it will be.
With a tear in my eye and hope in my heart, I pray for us both this will be a new start.
I AM PROUD TO BE A MEMBER OF THE
