  • Bio

Bill Culp co-founded Canadian punk rock band "The Problem Children" in the early 1980's, playing drums and co-writing one of their most popular songs, "Red Dyed Hair". After leaving the group, Bill joined a Rockabilly band called "The Rubels", playing upright bass and singing, and performed 300+ shows per year across Canada throughout the mid to late 1980's. In the early 1990's, Bill was a regular performer on the Toronto Roots music scene with "The Fabulous Dienfenbakers" where he backed numerous notable Canadian musicians including Jack deKeyzer, Gene Taylor, Chris Whiteley, Ken Whiteley, Donnie Walsh, and others. In 2005, Bill released a solo CD entitled "Roots'N'Roll", a mix of country, rock & roll, rockabilly, blues and pop that was distributed across North America via Bullseye Records. The disc received substantial airplay in the "Roots" genre and reached 11 in the USA on the "Freeform American Roots" chart, which tracks 140 Roots-oriented radio programs worldwide. The single "Riverside", recorded with Garth Hudson from "The Band" on keyboards, reached the Canadian Country Top 100 radio chart for 3 consecutive months. The disc was given positive reviews from many publications and was nominated at both the Hamilton Music Awards and the Toronto Music Awards. Today, in addition to his solo shows, Bill Culp is busy touring with the musical play "Good Rockin' Tonight: The Sun Records Story", and also performs regularly with Dave Rave (The Shakers, Teenage Head) and Cleave Anderson (Blue Rodeo).
