About me:

I'm a longtime music and entertainment journalist, critic and editor. Cut my teeth at the legendary CREEM Magazine. Also a former contributing editor at SPIN. Other editorial jobs have included stints at BAM, New Times Los Angeles, Radio & Records and Daily Variety. Have written for a ton of publications, from the L.A. Times to New Musical Express to US Weekly. During my last several years in L.A., most of my published work was done for MOJO Magazine and L.A. Citybeat. As of July 2007, I'm the Music Editor of the Detroit Metro Times in...duh, Detroit.

Who I'd like to meet:

I'm open to meeting almost anyone, especially liberals. I love hearing from old friends from the past; several have found me here and it's always great...I love receiving comments on this page. However, do not post comments on this page as a bulletin board to promote/advertise your band or other endeavors. It's gotten ridiculous and I will simply delete the comment and your "friendship" as a result. Thank you for your understanding. (As of April 2007: To all bands/musical artists -- If I don't know who you are, please drop me a message first, letting me know why you want to be added. I've been getting overwhelmed lately and a few of the requests were making me scratch my head, genre-wise.... Thanks!) NOTE: I'm currently not accepting requests from bands and musical artists I don't already know. Sorry..but I just get too many such requests and get sent a lot of music at my work account and would rather not deal with them on MySpace, where I'm spending much less time these days anyway.

Oh, Bill Holdship! You are an absolute delight! Tell me, are you naturally this charming or did you take lessons?

I am packing my steamer trunk as we speak and am soon to set sail for Londontown! My crystal ball is a little hazy, but it does seem that there is a good chance that we will soon meet and that I will have the heartfelt pleasure of telling your fortune! Could it be true?

In any case, the stars have indicated that we are destined to be fast friends in this lifetime and the next and I have no doubt that they are correct. The thought of this pleases me immensely.

Looking forward to all our future adventures, it is thus I remain very truly yours, &c.

Hey Bill, heard any new bands lately that we should all know about? :) I'm looking around for some new rock and roll that can ameliorate my Seasonal Affective Disorder until Spring arrives (ha ha). Hope you're doing well!

Hey Bill, happy 2009! Hope life is treating you kindly. I bought a CREEM mag t-shirt and now just need for the weather to warm up enough so that I can wear short sleeves again (LOL). Enjoy the weekend.

Do you like "Swingtown"? It's true that it's no "Freaks and Geeks"....However, it's got the 70's vibe down in a way that I enjoy. Hope you are well and enjoying summer, Bill!

    Hi Bill, Happy Birthday!

To celebrate your natal day I purchased that sixth string that Keith Richards takes off of his guitar to get that Brown Sugar tuning. I had it mounted in plexiglass and then,.... well,.... I sold it for heroin.
But I was thinking of you DUDE!!!! Rock on!!!!

Happy Birthday, Bill! We're actually working on fitting a Detroit (possibly Ferndale) gig in to the tour that's in progress, so perhaps we'll be in your hood soon.
Hope you had a great day of birth celebration!

Yoo Hoo! Happy Birthday my brother in arms. You're relevance as a Music Critic is only more deeply founded as of midnight! Are we the only ones who remember what it was like to open that LP and have friends over to listen? oh, by the way, Viva Ubly!
With fond birthday thoughts for you,
