Bill Kurzenberger is a dynamic keyboardist / guitarist / singer / songwriter from Columbus, Ohio. He currently plays keyboards and Hammond organ with Stone Groove, the Bug Hounds, John Mullins Band, and The Resonators, in addition to his solo performances. Bill is also the newest member of the Marshmallow Overcoat, having recorded in the studio with them previously under the pseudonym Thee Hands of Tyme. His recent projects also include Grasshopper Pie and the Ritchey Brothers Band.
Bill's influences range from Americana blues to funk to Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead. Over the past twelve years, Bill has played at many of Ohio's premier venues including the Newport Music Hall, the House of Blues, the Beachland Ballroom, the Winchester Music Hall, and Legend Valley. With various bands, Bill has supported renowned artists such as the Marshall Tucker Band, Melvin Seals and the Jerry Garcia Band, David Nelson Band, Derek Trucks Band, Hot Tuna, Blues Traveler, Yonder Mountain String Band and ekoostik Hookah.
Bill is also an established - yet emerging - solo artist from the Ohio bars to national media recognition. In 2005, Bill self-produced his debut CD entitled Suspending Disbelief. Recorded at Rome Recording Studio in Columbus, the CD features six songs selected from over a decade of original material. The CD also features Ed Ritchey, Scott Maruskin, Scot Gassen, Julie Rearick and Craig Harpley. Suspending Disbelief is available at several online music outlets including CDBaby, Apple iTunes, Napster, and Rhapsody, and has been featured on international radio stations.
Bill is featured in the February 2007 issue of No Cover Magazine, available at booksellers nationwide. Bill's original song Venom Wine has been selected to appear on the nationally-distributed "Groupies Suck Volume 9" compilation CD that accompanies No Cover Magazine. In 2007, Bill continues to perform with Stone Groove at venues and festivals across Ohio. He also recently began playing keyboards with the Bug Hounds. Bill's keyboards will also be featured on the Marshmallow Overcoat's upcoming 20th Anniversary EP entitled 20 Years of Fuzz. Bill also formed a new project named The Resonators that evolved from the Suspending Disbelief sessions. Plans are also underway for a follow-up CD.
