Grace. When singer/songwriter Bill Steely says that word, he feels so unworthy. God's grace was poured out on him in March 05'.
Steely grew up in church all his life but resisted God and rebelled until the age of nineteen. He was then saved by Jesus Christ and His Grace. Being a young Christian Steely thought he could conquer his rebellous nature, but not so. He found himself back in the same places again.
Bill Steely's passion for music has always been there. Almost like breathing. He played every barn house, outhouse and dive around trying to get the big break. After years of dealing with AR Crooks, Attitudes, and Band Mates with addictions, Steely found himself one night faced with a life and death decision. God's Grace intervined and protected him. He came home to his beautiful wife and 3 children, and slid his guitar under the bed. After 15 years of trying, the dream was over.
March 2005 Steely brought his father-in-law home with Liver cancer, he had been given 3 weeks to live. He wasn't sure if this was the right move, but still God was leading him. This was truly life changing! God showed the true meaning of existance through this experience. After being a Christian for 16 years, the Lord put Steely in a position to witness to his father-in-law. As one tear flowed down a face, he finally got it. GRACE. God's Grace is the gift of JESUS CHRIST. The acceptence of eternal salvation. The only thing He asks in return is to tell others about Him and His Grace.
Bill Steely knows that his father-in-law was saved that day. Several hours later Steely's father-in-law left and touched the face of God. "God brought me closer to him over the next couple of months through devotions and prayer," states Steely. November of 05' God gave him a song. He pulled out his guitar and started singing and writing again. Not for himself, but for the Kingdom. Please keep Bill Steely in your prayers as he and his family see where God leads.
