This is a time of unprecedented challenges for our city. As we grapple with a financial crisis that threatens to send the nation and our city into a recession, New York must continue to represent that place where dreams are forged and government faces down its challenges with a commitment to innovation, diversity, and progress.

I’ve always been a fighter. Over the course of three decades, as Board of Education President and as Comptroller, it has been my honor and privilege to fight for the people of New York City – a fight that has continued with my opposition to the mayor’s shameful decision to place ambition over democracy in extending term limits.
