Billy Gill was born in a small town in a large state called Gainesville, GA. Growing up, Billy would often wander off the playground at recess to make up songs and eventually saunter back into the harsh flourescent existence of a second grader. Having picked up the guitar around age 11 and writing in earnest, sometimes too earnest, from age 15, Billy has developed into a fine singer/songwriter with an eclectic assortment of material (influenced heavily by The Beatles, John Mayer, Martin Sexton, Bob Dylan, Jump, Little Children among others) and if you don't believe it, just ask him.
Billy: "Yeah, that's right."
Billy has recently finished production on his first studio LP, "Still Life," which is set to be released in March 2008.
Since 2006, Billy has been a force in the exciting Chicago singer-songwriter scene with regular appearances at such Chicago hotspots as Uncommon Ground, Vintage Wine Bar, etc.. He now resides in Los Angeles, CA and is poised to make a splash with the release of "Still Life" and a bucket full of new material. Billy was chosen best songwriter in the world 10 years running by his mom. Thanks Mom.
Billy received a B.F.A. in Theatre from Southern Methodist University back in aught-three (2003, not 1903). His experience as an actor and director has forged his perfomance in the fires of live theatre and Billy brings this ability to engage and enliven an audience to every song and every show.
His soulful folk rock act blends classic styles to show you something you've seen before but overlooked a hundred times or more. His poetic lyrics and honest vocals set him apart as an exciting, up and coming talent in the Singer-Songwriter Scene, captivating and charming his audiences wherever he plays.
Swiggity-sweet, my brotha! I'm glad you are well, and I'm glad we reconnected. I will be out in L.A. around Christmas if you want to hang...maybe I could see you play!
man, i sure do like the way that right track song is constructed. . . forgotten about that payoff at the end. . . speaking of payoffs, i ain't asking for 25 cents on the 99 on the right track - track . . . all i want is a real live, copy of the cd. so think about it. because everyhwere that I go, I got people I know, who got people they know, especially in Los Angeles. so I suggest you just mail it. my number has stayed the same. much like myself and my game.
