I am a singer/songwriter....although lately I feel more like a songwriter than a singer. I have 2 independent releases (Honky Tonk Ballet, Tuesday). I have had several Texas/indie artists record my songs. A few are Lantana, The Pear Ratz, and my brothers David Lee Garza Y Los Musicales. I have played at various bars, restaurants, outdoor patios, living rooms and arts and crafts fairs....all for the music.
I play bajo sexto and sing a few songs now and then with David Lee Garza Y Los Musicales. That relationship has lasted for 18 years. I can think of no other place where I have learned about music as much as I have from those guys.
I have picked up and award here and there:
2005 Tejano Crossover Single of the Year (Who's That Gringo?)
B.W. Stevenson Songwriting Competion Runner Up (Poor David's Pub in Dallas, Texas)
Equally important, I am a certified Texas Teacher (Grades Pre-K - 12th). That's where the magic happens! Thank a teacher when you see one! They are shaping our future leaders of America :)
