Dial and case signed Sarcar. The estimate in the auction was $6000 to $8000 but it sold for $5000.

This is that Mercedes-Benz I told you about.  The 600. I want one! Note the side windows beyond the rear doors. Normally on a smaller MB model these would be smaller, and be part of the door itself. Its a big car. But not so big that it wouldn't be parked in a regular parking space. In just basic decent condition they start at about $35,000, though.

Los Angeles, California - It’s a murder mystery that has puzzled neighbors in the upscale Los Feliz area since 1959. The criminal-case part was solved quickly enough. Homicide investigators found that Dr. Harold Perelson had bludgeoned his wife to death with a ball-peen hammer, savagely beat their 18-year-old daughter and fatally poisoned himself by gulping acid.

Authorities removed two other children from the sprawling hillside estate that overlooks downtown Los Angeles, locked the front door to the 5,050-square-foot mansion, and left. Fifty years later, the home remains empty. The estate's grounds are pockmarked by gopher holes and overgrown with grass that will turn brown in summer.

A pond is partly filled with rainwater. Weeds poke through cracks in a driveway. Some windows are cracked. The mansion is slowly decaying. Inside is dust-covered furniture, including a 1950s TV set frozen in time. Wrapped Christmas gifts on a table. Questions linger: Why has the current owner kept the home as it was on Dec.
