Founded in 1979 by Gwendolyn Turner, the Angelic Voices of Faith's sole purpose is to render praises to God through singing. Consisting of approximately 45 members from different churches and denominations throughout Memphis, this group has become one of the most outstanding community choirs in the South.
Their accomplishments speak for themselves. The Angelic Voices of Faith have shared the stage with renowned artists such as Kirk Franklin, Bobby Jones, John P. Kee, Marvin Winans, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Shirley Caesar, Ce Ce Winans, The Canton Spirituals, Andrew Cheers & The Gospel Songbirds, and Benita Washington. The most recent recording was in January 2005, with Dottie Peoples: Live in Memphis, which is currently available on CD and DVD. The Angelic Voices of Faith were blessed to have the opportunity to minister with Dottie Peoples at the 21st Annual Stellar Awards in Nashville, TN on January 2006.
In 1993, the group was nominated for a Stellar Award for "Best New Artist" with their first album entitled, "A Gift to You." "Getting Ready," their second album recorded under CGI Records reached Billboards Top 40 and remained there for 10 weeks. In 1998, they were selected to provide the musical score for an ABC documentary celebrating Black History Month. The project was recorded live in Memphis and narrated by ABC television host Peter Jennings. In the summer of 1999, Minister Billy Rivers and the Angelic Voices of Faith joined the High Stacks Records family and celebrated their 20th year with the release of their third album titled, "Gotta Lift Him." They recorded their fourth album titled "Let's Celebrate" in 2001.
In June 2006 Billy Rivers and the Angelic Voices of Faith was signed to a record label. PRAISE GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are now signed to JEA/Right Now Records, founded by James Alexander and Larry Dodson, members of the R & B group, the Bar-Kays. They have started a gospel division called Testimony Records and BR & AVOF were the first artist to be signed on that label.
On November 18, 2006 Billy Rivers and the Angelic Voices of Faith recorded their fifth album at Mississippi Blvd. Christian Church. Special guests were Daryl Coley from Los Angeles, CA and Angela Spivey from Chicago, IL. It was an awesome blessing!!!
