"Billy Schools is a drummer and a vocalist and he has assembled a group of talented cohorts to jam and make funky music with, as is evident on the new album, The Drummer Who Wanted To Sing.
Chris Garrett, Mike Winters, and Doug Empie join Schools for this recording and provide the down and dirty funk and rock that surrounds Schools' vocals. While this outfit isn't prone to indulge in gratuitous jamming and solos, they do an excellent job of providing just the right amount of rock and roll attitude these songs require.
Though containing only six songs, The Drummer Who Wanted To Sing shows that Schools and his band are a local rock force to be reckoned with. The powerful "Open Eyes" is a full-on classic rock scorcher while the power ballad "Running Into Walls" shows a softer side to the band.
Sometimes you hear an album and you can't wait for it to end, but that's not the case with this release from Billy Schools. These mighty few songs leave you wanting more..."

Drummer who wants to work, play, record. Born January 3rd. Started Drums right after that. Started in bands around late 1985, with the debut of Elegant Mess. Made 2 cassette only releases (Fresh Milk in 1989, and Tape Hiss in 1991), and 1 vinyl only release (After The Roaches Eat The Poison in 1991). Band broke up in 1993. Played in SGBC in 1997 after various studio sessions started in 1989-1991 ("Whimmer Dimmer" is from these sessions...), this band morphed in Stereo Pharaohs, which started recording and songs that i was singing on ended up remixed as my 1st solo CD, "The Drummer Who Wanted To Sing".
