Leaving her hometown of Columbus, Ohio, Maria Shehata quickly earned herself a place at the table at some of the best comedy clubs in New York City. Maria’s sharp and original stand-up, combined with her crowd pleasing conversational delivery has brought her appearances in NY’s Arab-American Comedy Festival, the Emerging Comics showcase at the New York Underground Comedy Festival, Comedy Central’s The Watch List, TLC, Women’s Entertainment Network, Dandana TV, SiTV, and numerous guest appearances on Sirius Satellite Radio.

If I wasn't a comedian I'd be doing something with food. I wanted to go to culinary school, not to be a chef, but just to be able to talk about food all day. I should be fatter than I am. I also like to play pool, watch netflix and order chinese, put myself on fasts and break them, lose my wallet, exercise at 10am while everyone else is at work, hit 'home' on myspace 3500 times in the course of an afternoon, look for travel deals on orbitz even though i have no money, go to coffeeshops to write and spend the entire time on youtube instead, start blogs with "I couldn't help but wonder" and think about how my life parallel's with Carrie Bradshaw's, wander through barnes and noble when i'm down, plan how to change my life next.
