I've been told I sound like: Greg Brown, or Neil Young, or John Prine, or ??? I'm just trying to enjoy what I do. I love the songs I play when I play out or record a cd. I'm really not trying to sound like anyone in particular. I love tons of Bob Dylan stuff, Todd Snider Rules, and I'm also starting to finger pick and use a slide more. Neil Young is a huge influence. If I'm tired of my stuff and playing guitar at home I usually play Eagles songs, Led Zep tunes, Jimi Hendrix, Arlo Guthrie's Alice's Restaraunt, Eric Clapton, Mississippi John Hurt, Townes Van Zandt, Beetles, etc...
What do I sound Like? Not sure you could pin point it.
Billy Southern was raised by a pack of wolves in the Minnesota wilderness. He ate frogs and field mice when times were hard and the pack was lean. His music comes from the back swamps where he used to share a tar paper shack with Amos Moses. The music stems from nightmares and other fine memories. Please enjoy the ride and remain seated until the disc comes to a complete stop, and remember, this is a smoke free web page, unless it's "medicinal" of course.
