NZ’s Premier Blues guitar player Billy TK jnr Tours Australia in February 2009!!


Internationally recognized Kiwi guitar player Billy TK Jnr has been busy touring, recording, fronting a massive road safety campaign in NZ as well as sponsorship deals with Music Works, Auahi Kore-Smokefree, Maton guitars and Holden NZ.

Billy recently signed to the prestigious Premier Harbour Agency in Sydney.
Releasing his critically acclaimed debut album ‘Three Sides To A Mirror in 2005, Billy has toured the United States, and toured NZ with George Thorogood, the Neville Brothers, Junior Wells, Mississippi Willie Foster, Joe Satriani as well as performing live on Top of the Pops, Juice TV and countless TV appearances. Billy will be touring NZ in March with Jimmy Barnes.

Billy has just released his new album ‘Presenting Billy TK jnr’ to critical acclaim. Recorded at Auckland’s renown York Street and Round Head studios, mixed at Singsing studio Melbourne and mastered at Sterling Studios Los Angeles has given it a world class sound and feel.

Billy says: “This is the album that I know people expected from me the first time around and here it is – its got the best representation so far of who I really am as a guitar player’ –it has a real guitar feel about it and has 11 songs that have meaning and good guitar playing”.

The album has been reviewed in Hollywood by music commentator Roger Goff who says: “There is some remarkable guitar playing on this album.” Aussie guitar hero Ian Moss say: “Billy is like Stevie Ray Vaughan on steroids!” and Legend George Thorogood says: “Billy has got the whole blues guitar thang down” – awesome accolades!!

Billy has played at several Australian events including a great performance at the Narooma Blues Festival and says about his upcoming tour of Australia: “This is a first step for me touring like this to Australia and is long overdue – I’m really excited and look forward to bringing my brand of guitar playing to Australia as well as having a great time and meeting new people’ ‘I will be out to impress!!!”

Billy is on tour in Australia from the 2nd of February 2009.

Influences:

I am heavily influenced by Ry Cooder, SRV, Clapton, Hendrix, Santana as well as having a great respect for George Benson, Steve Vai and pacific rhythmic guitar players.

Taking these influences and building songs is what excites me - not only in the blues rock genre but other such styles such as pacific reggae. Pretty much songs that have guitar solos not guitar solos that happen to have songs.

Having said that, finding that awesome, far out, heart wrenching, spirit uplifting guitar solo is what continues me on that 'Indiana Jones' seach for it.
