Sounds Like
“Listening to Billy Whims is a little bit like meandering through a forest full of tall green trees, in the rain. Everything sparkly and shimmering, wearing red gumboots, splashing through all the puddles whilst finding your way home to a place you know will be warm. When you get there, her gentle, lilting, almost childlike voice, invites you to take a seat, have some tea, and chat awhile about anything at all, and everything. There is so much fascination and curiosity in her music. Curiosity for the tiny nuances of human life, the things that we see as children, and then forget to look for as adults, and fascination with those rare moments that change the course of such lives forever. She is always unflinchingly honest about her beliefs, her sentiments, about the things that she knows and the things that she doesn’t, and the things she maybe wants to learn. Billy’s music passes on this sense that there are parts of life that we do not know, which are elusive and mysterious. But instead of being dark and fearful, these spaces and places are enchanting, and when we do happen upon something, accidentally, out of the blue, it breaks your heart with it’s charming simplicity.” – Courtney Blunsdon
DEBUT ALBUM "WHAT WE MADE" - available in Tommy Gun Records, Hobart - soon will be in other stores....
Billy Whims songs glow in the dark, with all the mystery of overgrown backyards. These gardenbeds are where she grows her melodies by day, among guitars, keyboards and violins.
The rain comes often in Hobart, Tasmania, as does the wind, taking her songs to near and far places about Australia and now the world. Billy Whims has played with the likes of Grand Salvo, Peter Joseph Head, Milk Teddy, Sophie Koh, Tiny Vipers (US) and more. There are records to her name, first the EPs "Crocodile Style", "It's Only Night" "Earthquakes" and the soon to be released debut album "What We Made" with 12 songs of indie-folk-pop imaginings.

Bit delayed, but anyway - I had a great time at Melodica #3! The set up you had in the church hall was great, it was a pity that I could only stay for the first three acts. Real shame I missed yourself and Grand Salvo, was looking forward to hearing both. My girlfriend really enjoyed Peter Escott and is now a fan, so that's wonderful and all.

doubt i'd get away with too many posters so just a few will do per campus :) so like a handful in total? i dunno, any spares I'll just put around my street or something... i'll PM you my address to drop off stuff :)
Doh! I was actually going to come along to Sirens for the Steadfast/TOOM album launch but I'm heading up to Burnie to see my gal. Lame that it interferes with Amplified week! :/ (Also miss out on H+M=Y, which I already bought a ticket too...)
My attendance to Melodica is on shaky ground too... grrr! :( Looks like another awesome gig... August 1st, hope I can come! :)
Thanks for the info though Billy, always appreciated!
(Any A4 sized posters I could print off? Might put them up around school for Melodica seeing as it is all ages. :))
hello bill! how is it going?! seems like nov. 15th (sun) would be the best for us to organize a show with you. would it be ok? btw, there's something wrong with our myspace message manager... so will you let me know your email address so that we can get in touch more smoothly?
If the positive innovations connect exponentially before the massive
breakdowns reinforce one another, the system can repattern itself to a
higher order of consciousness and freedom without the predicted
economic, environmental, or social collapse ... If the system could go
either way, a slight intervention to assist the convergence of the
positive can tip the scales of evolution in favour of the enhancement
of life on Earth. Barbara Marx Hubbard.
