4th Annual Halloween Costume Party
Saturday, October 30th 2010
Beginning 9:00 pm at My House
You MUST wear a costume/dress-up
I just found out that one of my "projects" made it into The New York Times. While I was down in New Orleans spending time with my mother during her cancer battle earlier this year, I took it upon myself to clean up one block of the Bywater-Marigny area (right outside of the French Quarter) in NOLA where we lived.

The New York Times obviously thought I did a good job because they picked that block to photograph as the residential example of the Bywater neighborhood. Pretty neat. It never crossed my mind that my "yardwork" would end up helping to exemplify "In New Orleans, New Life by the River". In the photo, ours is the green house.

The New Orleans memorial service for Rita Patrick will begin at 5:00 pm tomorrow on April 30th, 2010 starting at The Abbey at 1123 Decatur Street with the Treme Brass Band leading into the tribute which will be held at Melvin's Bar at 2112 St. Claude Ave.
Musicians performing in remembrance of Rita will be Coco Robicheaux, Guitar Lightnin' Lee, MC Trachiotomy, The Unnaturals, and The Pallbearers. Keep in mind that this is Rita's tribute service and not an event that is open to the public in general. This is for her friends and family within the community.
For those of you who are friends and relatives from the Ohio area, we will be having a seperate memorial service for Rita in Dayton at some point in the near future. That will be planned at a later date, so there are no particulars for that gathering yet.
One year ago today on March 11th, TapouT founder Charles "Mask" Lewis Jr. was killed in an automobile accident. Much respect to a man who did a lot for the sport of MMA.
Hip Hop legend Chuck D recently sent me an email letting me know that he put the interview that we did together up on the official Public Enemy website. He also published the until-now unavailable story that goes along with the interview.
http://www.publicenemy.com/index.php?page=page2&item=207
The interview with Chuck originally appeared online in April of 2009 and was also printed in the November 2009 edition of the El Paso-based magazine Fusion. The version now hosted on the Public Enemy site is the first complete version available that includes the opening introduction.
Halloween Party at Niki's house on November 7th this year. This will be the Saturday after the 31st and you MUST wear a costume. Come and get creepy wit' it!

The interview I did with Chuck D from Public Enemy got published in Fusion Magazine recently, here's a link to the digital version:
