   BioFrog's Blurbs
About me:
Saul and I are adopting a little girl from China. All of our paperwork was submitted in the spring of 2006. Our official login date with the Chinese government is June 28, 2006. Now, we are just waiting and waiting and waiting. Unfortunately, the time between login date and child referral (when they will send us a photo and a name) keeps increasing. So as we wait, I read. A lot. I read books about adoption and China, and I read many, many other books just for fun. Sometimes I write about what I read. And sometimes I write about my life. All of this helps pass the time as we wait. We also spent the first seven months of this process educating ourselves about what it means to adopt internationally. In one workshop, we had to write a description of ourselves in 25 words or less. Here is what I wrote: "I am a smart, funny, self-confident, educated woman of 35 years who loves to write, read, create, learn, teach and spend time with loved ones." I wanted to write "family and friends" instead of "loved ones" but I already had 23 words.
Who I'd like to meet:
On MySpace? People who like to read and people who like to write about what they read. Unitarian Universalists. Theists? Atheists? All are welcome. Parents who have or who are trying to adopt internationally. While we wait for China, I think it's good to hear the stories of other families. Makes the wait a little bit easier. People I used to know or know now or will know in the future, but only if you wear shirts most of the time, even on MySpace. And if the name Trixie Belden rings a bell, please say hello. Any friend of the girl detective is a friend of mine.

Since you were so interested in challenge questions you may want to join my challenge question discussion group.  It would only be you, me, and a guy from the NSA but I feel like that's a great base to grow on.

We share a server with a human development discussion group so there's plenty of bandwidth.

Springtime Pictures, Images and Photos

We are hunkered down waiting for the "Blizzard of all blizzards today!" No school and everyone is getting ready for power outages, etc.

Have a great day! *smile*

Hey, I caught up on all of your blogs and Kai's blogs and now what nothing? What happened to Kai's Zombie narrative, it was just getting interesting.
So are the DQ parties grist for another blog?

Live Free or Die Hard is a superb action movie and well worth watching repeatedly ... if you like action movies. (Sensing a bias here?) If not, then feel free to not really watch it as often as you like.

*nods* there needs to be a violent shakeup of their R&D department, seriously. Why would you even _want_ an hourglass as a charm? Perhaps, to remind you of your finite time on Earth? *rolls eyes*

how's your semester going?

Hey Kathy! I'm really bad about keeping up with myspace, but I was just thinking about you and Saul and wondering how things are going.
I hope you're well and I hope to hear back from you!

Thanks, though I've been thinking I've not done much yet with my page; not that I have grand designs in the making, either. But yes, I understand your laughter.

Thank you, Kathy, for the birthday thoughts.

It may sound good on paper, but my jungle is really HORRIBLE! It is so overgrown, a health department guy came and asked me if he could set rat traps in it!!! The nerve, yeah?!

So, instead of going out and trying to do something about it, I will spend the whole day curled up with a good book! Somebody gave me "Water for Elephants."

Thanks again.
Love,
lisa

Thanks Sis!

Headed to the New Theater tonight in Overland Park. The play is a comedy, but I don't know what it is (that's the surprise part).

I can't promise anything right now. Depends if I have a new job, what my schedule is and if I normally work on the weekends (like I do now) if I can get time off.

I'll let you guys know more soon.

Hi Kathy,
I was thinking about you all day today as I worked in my classroom and listened to the sounds of Chinese music emanating from Kalaukaua Park down the street. There was a huge cultural fair going on to celebrate the New Year with Lion dances and fireworks, art, crafts, food and entertainment all day long. Wish you could have been here...
