APR 2008::

note: these songs are for you.

life is not bad. we maintain this.

we have friends, ideas, love and potentialities.

if you feel down make things. art. music. write stories and poems.

it is hard to read the news. the number of wars and acts of violence being committed for 'religious ideologies' or 'genetic/cultural rights' is something i can not comprehend.

our band is not political in a closed sense, we are human, and politcal so much as a conscientious human can, by nature, lend their observations to politics.

you will find songs here lamenting the distance between two beings, outraged at a government and its hypocrasy, singing about ancient druid rights, aliens/visitors from other than earth, friends combatting addiction, people resisting self discovery, feeling lost, feeling found, wanting to help a friend but not knowing how, succeeding, failing, accepting reality and trying to make the most of it, combatting reality fervently and with a vigor only classified by the conventional as madness, the tradition of science fiction which endavors to create better worlds, the surrealist flood which inundates the pictureqsue with synaptic overload in hopes a more beneficial form may afterwards spawn.

this is what you get from biography of ferns

oh, and nachos mofo. we got nachos.

sigh....

however, kind reader, you know, admittingly, some things in the good world are 'bad', and have been on my mind lately. for example:

what is up with the weather? why are the floweres in our garden blooming in irregular cycles? polar bears dying? hail one day then sunscreen the next, in seattle?! do you complete morons in our government see the earth being at its highest temperature in 1 million (yes, 1 million) years as a problem? um, i fuckin do! so do the drowning polar bears, the lemurs, migratory birds, the abandoned people in louisiana, drought stricken deserts and wherever else the next weather related crisis or hurricane is gonna hit. it snowed a week straight here in seattle jan of 2007, and november 2006 had the most rain ever recorded. i am very worried.

you politicians are corporate tools. it is hard to beleive you were always this way. in highschool, when you were in the cafeteria for lunch, did you cut in front of everyone else in line, eat all the food, and lock some kids in the broom closet to starve, then go on a break to shoot birds with bb guns in the school courtyard? because, this is what you are in effect doing. except like 1000 times worse. people are actually dying because of the decisions you are making, or failing to make. it isnt casual. humorous. or passing. just because your kids are in a walled private school and baby jesus sings your wife's conscience a nightly lullaby via her sleeping pill addiction, it doesnt make the world a safer, more stable place.

what are you going to do when peak oil happens? at first it won't even be noticeable. actually, it is already starting. gas prices will get higher. products which use oils will become more costly. ultimately though, the industrialized lifestyle you have known will end. what are you going to do when after a large crisis the members of your government abandon you to look after their own family members, a few select friends and commercial concerns? what are you going to do when the food supply fails due to weather crisis resulting from global warming conditions? a bioengineered germ that runs rampant?

FACTS: Weather is acting weird. Not just weird, insane. We are running out of oil.

Can you trust your government? Have very high ranking members of your federal government in the current administration lied to the public repeatedly?

Solutions: Community & Rugged Individualism. Self education and free sharing of knowledge once educated.

a thought:

what the hell is an indie band? what is ambition? greed? do you really need more money? is it going to ever make you happy if you base your life on greed and powerlust? perhaps if you spent 1/8th the amount of time volunteering at some socially concious event that you do worrying about your carefully dishevelled dyed black hair and the sling of your bullet belt, we'd live in a perfect world. seriously, twerp.

my view of the musical world is that it really needs 2 things at this time:

-1. sustainable & humanist thought.

-2. the freedom of voice that a non-coporate music reality would foster.

unless you can validate widespread commerical fame by using the money and exposure to either support a charitable cause or champion something good *(see footnote) i think you are a jackass. i think you are just as much a twerp as the corporate lawyer who lives in a gated community and drives a humvee. you are the same as the republican oil cronies. in fact, you are worse. because some people believed in you, when you were small, on the way up. fool.

do you have vision or soul? you had the chance to use your power and influence for something good. but you sold out. you corrupted th gift of the muse. sorry if this is harsh. maybe you are just a sucker and clueless. but more and more, i am coming to the conclusion that materialism is a form of spiritual immaturity. and the world does not have time for this, any longer.

************************************************************************ Jan 2005- Hey!!!! please dont just surf the net and add us as your friends on here. only ask to be our friends if you have heard and actually like our music or are our pals from some other realm. if you have 27652 friends and are just clicking on peoples crap to add to your profile, and then you never interact with those people ever again, that's stupid. we really want this to be an active community with involved members.

if we do not add you, it isn't the end of the world. there are 4,567,890,890,690 users here who just add anybody to their profile. go bug them.

ahem, ahem.....*takes sip of water*......Hi people. Welcome to our Myspace website. We dont exactly update this place every 11 minutes so please see our website at www.biographyofferns.com for the latest news.

CREDO: music can change lives. art can save lives. it is a code to live by.

(the french surrealists were good writers. in particular robert desnos and paul eluard. i think so anyway)

our labels website has two albums for sale, t-shirts, a book of poems written by our singer justin and other neat stuff. www.tellous.net. it also has a bunch of mp3s.

drop us a comment: biographyofferns (at symbol) hotmail.com

sorry about the rant. we are positive people! we just get a little down with all the selfish, purely commercialized mayhem

ADVICE: keep fighting falsehoods. resist Illusions. and if you dont like something in the world, fucking try to change it....

You're going to have a lot of fun. I've been doing mixes for bands recorded last month, so I haven't been making much personal time. I'm going to shoot for your show @ The Sunset.

I do declare we shall have a chat at this fine establishment over a cold Rainer. Much to catch up on. Alaska has treated this city girl kindly, but not without a dose of thee ol' frontier grunge/grudgeness... and the people have hibernated..time to recharge in the homeland and talk to my fellows!
