  • Bio

Biomortal are a Cinematic Metal band from London. They play double-bass drum and synth led music to give them a robotic, machine like sound, with Robert on vocals, Paul on guitar, Jamie On bass and Gooders on drums they strive to find a new and heavy sounds with a groove. Originally called Stinkweed, this band started as a project in the Earth year 2006 by guitarist and singer Paul Theobald. Paul recorded 11 tracks himself which later became Biomortal's first album 'Dirge', but he needed a heavier edge to the music, which was solved by the hiring of Paul's brother, Robert, on vocals. 'At first, it was just going to be a solo project for me while I was in another band' says Paul, 'but as soon as Robert came onboard we realised it was something special'. Robert and Paul quickly got to work writing the vocal parts to the whole album, as well as writing some new songs from feedback got from their Myspace page. 'All of a sudden we were getting a thousand hits a day or more on our Myspace. A lot of people enjoyed our faster tracks, so we wrote more of them' Paul explains. 11 Songs were finally chosen for the album's tracklist, 'but we managed to squeeze in a couple of segues and other little bits throughout Dirge'. Jamie Richardson who had played with Paul for years was drafted as the bass player and after several configurations and Alex Gooders took his place behind the drums. It was after the release of Dirge that the band came to the realisation that the name, 'Stinkweed', didn't reflect the machine like music they created, Biomortal was born. So far the band has got to work on a new set of songs that are heavier, faster and more synth led than before, 'We've definitely got more spooky synth intros this time' says Robert.
