Bird, aka much-touted London singer/songwriter Janie Price, has released her debut album, The Insides, and gained critical acclaim across the national press in UK.

Released on new indie label Ice Cream Records, and written largely in Iceland, The Insides
features ten largely self-penned compositions from the multi-instrumental Price, produced by Eberg.
Word of mouth has already led to broader interest with the album now being released on export
in Japan, Nederland, Germany, Italy, Spain and Belgium. Bird has just returned from her trip to
Belgium where she performed on the biggest chat show De Latste Show on national TV.
Fresh from her showcase at Eurosonic Festival in Groningen in Holland Bird is now preparing for
live on the road in UK and Europe. With an album worth of new songs, Bird is also aiming at
recording her second album later on this year.
Prices haunting vocals- which have already borne favourable comparisons to the likes of Rickie
Lee Jones and Tori Amos are allied to a prodigious musicianship, the live show seeing her
brilliant cello playing becoming a focal point of her performance.
Indeed, having started out as a principal cellist in youth orchestras from the age of 6, Price
moved on to drumming in a punk band, and more recently becoming a much-in-demand jazz
vocalist on Londons club circuit. It is definitely worth starting this year with some bird watching

I nærmest tusind år har dette projekt været undervejs. De sange, som udgør grundstammen i projektet, er sunde børn af en inderlig stræben mod at nå frem til en balance mellem det nøgne budskab og et melodisk opløftet udtryk.
De begrænsede muligheder i instrumentering og optageforhold blev undervejs i graviditeten en slags ven, der gjorde det muligt at forløse sangenes iboende storhed i et minimalistisk og nært sprog, der uden at svigte de underlæggende symfoniske kvaliteter, lod en ærlig og så meget des stærkere besked skinne igennem.
Gennem denne proces voksede et univers frem, som blander lejrbålets intimitet med himmelens grænseløshed og på samme tid bredt og snævert, spejler den menneskelige (sam)eksistens’ vilkår med oprigtig kærlighed og undren.
Vi er glade og stolte. Nu er tiden inde til at musikken skal møde verden. Resultatet taler for sig selv, men der er ingen grund til at lade fødselen ske i stilhed.
