I like most singers. I think starlings are really talented! Gulls are kind of annoying but I like some of their stuff. I'm the one that always yells "Play Free Bird!" at concerts (sorry). And now I'm really happy the Eagles got back together!

Chickadee is having a relaxing summer Posted at 3:51 AM Jul 27 view more
About me: You can call me Chickadee. I'm one of the cutest birds on the wing! I'm a bit of a gourmand. You might find me in your backyard, partaking of a snack from your birdfeeder. I love nuts and seeds. When they are dipped in fat - delicious! In the summer I like to eat bugs and in the fall I supplement my diet with berries. I like to keep my figure round and fluffy, to stay in tip-top cute shape.
I like to hang out with my flock, which is mostly made up of other Black-capped Chickadees like myself. Sometimes we let titmice and warblers forage with us (they are cute too, but not as cute as me!).
My human secretary is named Amy and she takes care of all my correspondence. She lives in the Netherlands and enjoys birding (she's still a novice though!) and learning about birds. She also works on Birdorable.com so if you have any questions about that, she'll be the one to ask.
Who I'd like to meet: I'd like to meet birders to learn and share birding tips, news and information. I'm also interested in falconry and pigeon racing, though I don't participate in those sports myself (for obvious reasons). I'd like to meet other cute birds like me. And I'd like to get the word out about all my Birdorable friends. Designs with Birdorable cute birds are available on t-shirts, tote bags, hats, stickers, magnets and more. If you like what you see on this page, why not add me as a friend?
I made my first video slideshow and wanted to share it with you. The musician (Elizabeth Ann Middleton) is one I found through MySpace, and she generously let me use her music to set to my images. Visit her MySpace page here - http://www.myspace.com/pianorama - she's fantastic! :-)
Slowly the evening changes into the clothes held for it by a row of ancient trees; you look: and two worlds grow separate from you, one ascending to heaven, another, that falls;
and leave you, belonging not wholly to either one, not quite as dark as the house that remains silent, not quite as certainly sworn to eternity as that which becomes star each night and rises—
and leave you (unsayably to disentangle) your life with all its immensity and fear and great ripening, so that, all but bounded, all but understood, it is by turns stone in you and star.
Spring is here and so are the butterflies! This week I have a gallery of a particular group of butterflies called Brushfoots. Brushfoots are the most commonly known and encountered of the large colorful butterflies (excluding the swallowtails) found in Florida and the Americas. These include the monarchs, fritillaries, buckeyes, and the viceroy below (who has nearly identical markings as the toxic monarch butterfly) to keep it from being eaten by birds.... cool trick, huh? :-)
Click the butterfly below to see my gallery - and please let me know what you think!
