All of our songs are named after birds. We have a painter in the band. He paints each bird as we play. After our show the audience has the opportunity to buy a painting for cheap ($20-40). It's fun! If you are a band reading this and want to play a show with us let us know. We would love it. If we added you as a friend we like your music. THE LONG: CJ Miller and Ian Peters formed a guitar and drums duo called The Great Lakes in 1999 in the great music town(s) of Champaign-Urbana Illinois. After a band called 'Great Lakes' started gaining success they decided to change their name to avoid confusion. The Great Lakes became Aluminum Duel. Life in the Midwest was stifling, so they moved to Seattle in 2001. Never really satisfied with their name, Aluminum Duel became Bird Show in 2002. The idea for Bird Show came from CJ's love and knowledge of birds. He thought it would be fun to have a theme as well- all of their songs would be named after birds. The duo recorded three songs with Johnny Sangster at Egg Studios in 2003. Their live energy did not transfer very well to recording so they decided to expand. Andy Clawson was added on bass/guitar in April of 2004. Andy shared their unique vision of writing songs in a highly structured, primarily linear style. They went to Egg Studios in November of 2004 and recorded Three Birds. The sound was coming together. Another step was needed. After toying with the idea of showing bird photos to the audience before each song, they talked to an artist friend, Curtis Poortinga, about painting on stage with them. Curtis embraced the idea and is now a full time member of the band. Audiences have been fascinated with the combination of music and painting and relish the chance to purchase a piece of the show via one of Curtis' paintings after each show. Bird Show's future will include benefit shows for various wildlife organizations starting with the Seattle Audubon Society. Bird Show's focus is to create forward thinking, challenging music and uniting the music and art communities. Andy quit the band after about a year of service in the band. Bird Show is now guitar, drums, and paint. They added 'of North America' to their name after discovering a Chicago band named Bird Show exists. They finished their first full length CD in October of 2007. Recorded by Ben Kersten of Mysterious Red X studios of Seattle. Mastered by MArk Guenther of Seattle Disc Mastering. BSofNA also released an EP in 2007, compiling songs from their 3 sessions with Johnny. -
