With her dark, sandy vocals and lyrical bite, Bird York is probably best known for her Oscar nominated song IN THE DEEP from the Oscar winning film Crash. (York sang the song live at the Academy Awards ceremony.) The cut is just one in a sensual and intoxicating collection of songs on York's release, Wicked Little High. Hypnotic grooves pulse under York's lilting melodies with a sound that Music Biz Magazine coined "torch trip hop".
Wicked Little High includes collaborations with GRAMMY®-winning mixer engineer Thom Russo ( Macy Gray, Juanez ,Audioslave) and GRAMMY®-winning producer Larry Klein (Herbie Hancock,Madeline Peyroux). Songs from the cd have been heard on the network television shows House, CSI:New York, In Justice, Nip Tuck as well as in the John Cusack-produced film Never Get Outta The Boat .
A new EP will be up online this December with a full record out in early spring of 09.
