we are not a band who places ourselves in the modern rock context of writing important music from deep within our souls outside the boundaries of time and place, some abstract music for all people and all times. we formed in the here and now with an acute awareness of the mind-numbing, cliche-reinforcing effects of bar bands and pop music in the central minnesotan landscape we inhabit.
we write music not necessarily to express emotions that already existed inside us, but to create art that makes us want to feel, breathe, scream, fuck, play, communicate, and live more passionately and authentically.
we desire a more direct and personal approach to the communicative possibilities of live performance, an art designed for sharing and not consumption, an experience beyond the boundaries of verbal expression and intellectual analysis.
we see our limitations as virtues, full of exciting possibilities unavailable to larger ensembles who have density to fall back upon. we are giddy to explore the full spectrum of dynamic options afforded by our small number of voices.
we don't want to sound self-important; we just want our intentions to be clear. we are ultimately two friends with similar tastes and a creative compulsion, not exactly an original premise for a rock band. we do hope to rise above the current regional music climate and encourage bands and their friends to create a local support system that will keep our best artists from fleeing to metropolitan areas to find a like-minded community.
