Their musical chemistry is undeniably perfect. Their style is unique. Even their name is one of a kind. Biscuits and Gravy. And after attending one performance from this dynamic Jazz, Hip-Hop, Funk, and R&B band, you'll understand the name clearly. It's more than just soulful grooves, fiery sax riffs, and mindblowing drum solos. It's food for the soul. And it's guaranteed that you'll leave saying, "That hit the spot!"
The band's creative mojo is powered by Keyboardist Eric Sexton's gift for formulating new and funky grooves on a daily basis. At the forefront of the group is lead vocalist and lyrical genius Harold Simmons (aka Future), who graces the group with his alto saxophone, sick rhymes, and dynamite stage presence. Tenor Saxophonist Wesley Winfrey adds his expertise to the group with his Coltrane influenced style. Radical bassist Brady Surface adds the element of funk and versatility, reminiscent of the late Jaco Pastorious and the world reknowned Victor Wooten. Last but not least, 13 year old wonder Brandon Holt holds the group together with his out-of-this-world drumming skill and mastery of rythyms, the perfect finish for any band. The proof is in the music.
They've played at various music venues in Nashville, from Lovenoise to Rocketown. On September 2, 2006, they had the opportunity to open up for the legendary DJ and Hip Hop pioneer DJ Jazzy Jeff at the Lovenoise 3rd Anniversary Block Party. Biscuits and Gravy was featured on a show called Not Just Country that showcases bands and artists in Nashville that do more than Country music. It will air on CW (UPN) in 2007. They have been featured on an X-radio interview for an audience of over 1.3 million people nationwide. Biscuits and Gravy is undoubtedly Nashville's newest and most promising talent. But don't take my word for it....
It seems that Christmas time is here once again, and it is time again to bring in the New Year. We wish the merriest of Christmas to you and your loved ones, and we wish you happiness and prosperity in the year ahead. Yola
