I'm a keen photographer, musician and nutter...
Photographs and much more at my website, Flickr and Picasa. Or catch my blog which I moved away from MySpace (sorry...)
Work interests include management, e-Learning, use of new technology to stimulate learning, discussion, innovation and use of strategy, decision-making processes etc.
Music
I play guitar and keyboards with Creeping Bentgrass whose blog I write - whenever there's something to write!
I was a member of 1970s Oldham/Manchester-based folk-rock band "Spiral".
As regards what I listen to, I don't have favourite bands, I have songs I like and some I dislike. Only rap and drum/bass inevitably makes me switch off. Songs must be musical to make me listen! If anything I have a strong liking for 1960s music!
Listening...
This Boy (John solo)
Blame It On Your Heart (John solo)
Last Night Was Made For Love (Creeping Bentgrass)
Runaway (Creeping Bentgrass)
Movies
Anything that makes me thrill, get excited, laugh, become intruiged. A particular liking for the Bond Films, Hammer Horrors and Marvel Comics spin-offs.
Television
Normally too busy to watch. I'll always watch Dr Who, but most other stuff has to be stumbled across. Hate any sort of false reality TV with a vengeance... Big Brother should be shot publicly!
Books
Love books, mainly fantasy sword and sorcery stuff - Robert Jordan etc. Always feel it a shame that older books disappear unlike old music which is still available. Where are the books I enjoyed years ago like "Tarzan" and Oliver Strange's "Sudden" western series? I also never grew out of a liking for Marvel Comics... Occasionally I review or remember old books and series on my blog.
About me: Creeping Bentgrass next few gigs are private bookings. We are appearing in March at a fundraiser for GLOG, Garstang area, Sunday 11 May 2008 at Witton Park, Blackburn, 12 or 13 July 2008 at Croxteth Park, Liverpool and 26 July 2008 at Eldonian Village Hall as part of a large Billy Fury-related event. Come and say hello!
Hi folks,
I live in Blackpool, a seaside resort on the northwest coast of England. Married to Fran since 1976.
Make sure to catch my blog updated most days sometimes several times!
Have worked since 1985 in Further and more recently Higher Education, becoming involved in computerised information systems from 1986. At the risk of seeming a geek I confess I won the NILTA national award for "Outstanding Contribution to the Development of Computerised Information Systems in Further Education in the UK" in 1999.
I currently work for JISC infoNet, a national advisory service to UK universities and colleges supporting their use of IT in both learning and back office functions.
My own specialisms are information systems, project management, risk, change management, process review etc.
I play guitar and keyboards and am a member of the band Creeping Bentgrass.
Who I'd like to meet: Anybody who is interesting!
Feel free to link to me but I'm choosy about friends - people who think an ability to talk in rhyme and a life on the verge of crime is all that should be necessary to have a recording career are not high on my list of want-to-meets...
Hi John, thank you for adding me. Pop over and read the blog if you fancy. I'll let you know when I've got music on here for you to listen to. Kindest regards, Tanya
